Questions about Sprite Backup on the Tilt
Let me start by saying that I am a Spb Backup fan. I have done a full restore on my Tilt with no problems with this program. So, this research is slow in coming, because I just did my 1st Sprite Backup. It completed without problem.

My personal fear is that the restore will fail, because this happened to me with my Hermes and Sprite Backup 6.0, and all I can say is thank good ness for Spb Backup.

What Sprite has, in its retail version, that I really did like was the Windows backup as well as the SD card backup.

Is the desktop portion of Sprite Backup available to us, with this built in 5.1 version?
Is 5.1 a more stable version than 6.12? (I only tried 6.0, and it was on my Hermes)
Has anyone upgraded to 6; what to you tell Sprite about a previous registration code for upgrade, or do you need to pay full retail?

I would love to get some feedback.

I have both Sprite Backup and Spb Backup. I've personally had more problems with Spb than with Sprite, so I'm using Sprite right now. But, I intend to keep both programs in my arsenal. After all, what works on my current device could be different than what works on my next device. I can also take backups with SKTools, so there's another tool in the toolbox. Why put all your eggs in one basket if you don't need to?

One final thought: How do you intend to test backup/restore programs without having more than one to ensure that if the tested program does not work correctly you can still recover?

I agree with you, John Doe, and I'm happy that others have had success with Sprite Backup, but to ask again:

Is 5.1, which is the version that comes on my Tilt, a more stable version than 6.12, which is their most current version?
Has anyone upgraded to version 6; what did you tell Sprite customer service about a previous registration code for upgrade, or do you need to pay full retail to get version 6?
Last, is there a desktop component that I can't find for the Tilt 5.1 version?

I would love to get some feedback.

Is the desktop portion of Sprite Backup available to us, with this built in 5.1 version? No, per an email conversation with support. You can purchase the upgrade for $10.00. Again from my email conversation with support.
Is 5.1 a more stable version than 6.12? (I only tried 6.0, and it was on my Hermes) Unsure about stability, but 6.0 is supposed to be more WM6 friendly.

The preinstalled version 5.1 on the tilt has performed very well. the only issue has been a warning because it didn't like the PTT hacks I installed.

I had to exchange my tilt due to a loose hinge. I did a backup and restore using the built in sprite app. I did it in the store when exchanging. It worked without a single problem. Registry hacks, customizations ect all intact. Hard reset the old one and was out the door. I have not found any errors since.
