I did buy this for the PDA/Phone combo. I now have an Axim and carry a seperate phone so this is going to be great. I did purchase a couple of days ago. Wife making me put it under the tree so I guess I will have to wait a few more days. I have decided that voice command is a must have. I am just trying to find a Today screen that I like, with alot of functionality but not too cluttered.

I have found the default Today screen with the Resco additions more than usuable but others have their favorite applications. In terms of voice recognition, you cannot go wrong with Microsoft's Voice Command but I know that it is a bit price (about $40). A must is to download and install Opera 4 mini, Google Maps and Microsoft Live Search.

By the way, setting up POP3 accounts on the Tilt is very easy.

The thumb wheel scrolls through a speed dial list, or recent calls, for one handed calling and the voice dial works great for no hands calling. Great device.

Forget it. Driving and dialing (accurately) is darned near impossible. Also too much lag on the phone dialer that ships with the Tilt.

I'd highly advise pulling over and typing in the number (screen or keyboard) or just adding them to your contacts ahead of time.

Be safe!

In the UK at least it would be ilegal to Dial and Drive at the same time.... on any phone.

Speed dials

I've got a tytn type device and can dial just as well with a touch screen dialer as on a 'regular cell'.
I have over 900 contacts, so speed dials is not worth a sou to me. Neither is number recognition or voice recognition. SoOrry, it's buttons I need.

Yeah, this is a practical solution for 2007... (pulling over to dial that is). But at least you won't die by the HTC - it'll be a rear-ender.

Because we use Lotus Notes, I have to run mNotes, which conflicts with Mobile6 and renders the scroll wheel (on the wrong side) and navigate 'joystick' inactive about 60% of the time. Lovin' my HTCrap

I see the picture of this dialler (oh yea, I really want to spend more time downloading crap on this loser), and yet I see no discernable benefit... Plus, what about a button to turn on speaker phone?

Sounds more like your Lotus Notes plugin is crap rather than the phone.

To turn on speaker phone, just hold down the green call button for a second.

Wind Surfa, I'll agree that Windows Mobile devices are not perfect right out of the box. But if you have some time and patience, you can make them better than anything else out there. Or you can wait a few more years for Microsoft and HTC to make the improvements themselves.

Also, my company uses Louts Notes and I hated mNotes, too. But I finally found a way around it that works awesome, and I am so glad I did. I'd be happy to share, but it might be too "crafty" for you.

I'd be very interested to hear how you worked around mnotes. I can be crafty!

Hey KCMatt,
I'm also interested in your "crafty" workaround. I've used mNotes and Pylon on my Treo650 and now my new Tilt. I prefer the imap email client for my email since it will do HTML..but need the sync for calendar/contacts.

I run my own company and am considering if I just want to move to my Exchange server that just sits there so I can play with it..just so I can get ActiveSync working easier.

Why are you paying for voice dialing? You just add a voice tag to your contacts, remap the PTT button using the AEButtons program (free on the internet) so that pressing it opens the voice dialing program, use a bluetooth headset or just yell, and you're good to go--with no monthly fee.
