They only charge for the software for Windows Mobile, the software to play on a PC or laptop comes with the product and can be upgraded for free over the internet.

I have one Slingbox (The Pro): [URL="http://www.slingmedia.com/go/slingbox-pro"] I have my Tilt, at home :two wireless laptops and two hardwired PCs on my home network at work: two PCs and I gave it to a buddy who is running it on his Blackjack. The only problem is that only one can be logged on at a time. I have " administrator" rights so I can log off anyone and log on when I want to. I did not setup HD..
but as you can see from the link it should work with the correct cable and setup.
If you both want to watch TV on 2 different devices(laptops, phones, etc...) at the same time I am pretty sure that you will need 2 separate Slingboxes. As long as one person is watching at a time you are fine. Basically what a Slingbox does is send the same signal that is being sent to your television over the internet to your device.
The slingbox does not send a true HD signal over the internet to your device to watch, it compresses the stream so it can be viewed, but it is still an excellent picture. There is a slingbox that is compatible with HD (the Slingbox Pro) and there is a separate dongle you purchase(Sling Media HD Connect Cable) for it that you plug your component cables into(it is a passthrough device too so you can still connect component to your TV), so any device that has a component out can be connected to it and the HD channel can be sent over the internet. The cable boxes I've seen can send the HD channels over the S video or RCA-video jack, the resolution is just scaled down to a format a SD TV will accept.
Not only will you need two slingboxes, but if you each want to watch separate programming, you will need two satellite/cable boxes to connect each slingbox to. I am currently running one slingbox and have the SlingPlayer Mobile on my Tilt and my wife's 8525. I am considering getting another Slingbox to attach to one of my satellite boxes.
I just purchased the Pro unit. I will now spend the weekend enjoying it. Well, thats if the install and set up go ok. lol. Thanks again for all the info. G. Acosta.

I have a slingbox, and sadly, for mobile devices, its the best thing out there. Hava has something that is better for PCs, but their support and mobile software leave much to be desired after reading through their forums.
I'm just happy that applian tech came out with the recording software for the slingbox.
as for the $30 charge...i feel ya. $15 would be nice. I'm hoping its a pay one, you get 4 devices kinda thing, because, honestly, to pay $30 x 4....you know, that could be why its so expensive... $30/4 is $7.50 and that ain't too bad...
Hi all, I just download the slingplayer and I get this error message that "Cannot connect with current connectionsetting". I can access the internet but slingplayer won't work. Can you guy help me with the correct settings? Thanks
