Question I need opinions from the pros...

Hey guys! I finally got my Tilt unlocked after many calls to AT&T. Now, I have a new dilemma. Should I change the AT&T rom to the HTC rom or should I just install all the HTC apps? I already got all the bloatware removed so I just need the opinions from the pros. lol WARNING: I AM NEW TO ALL THIS! Please don't be mean. :o

Rom

There have been reports on other sites that after changing ROM's from the stock Tilt ROM that some peoples reception quality for calls dropped considerably. I did as you and removed the bloatware and just installed the parts from HTC that I liked and haven't had any troubles at all with it yet.

I did the remove bloatware option and have been very happy. I just added a few of the cabs back that I wanted like Cingular video and the other HTC Options.

Other Programs I like are:

- Opera Mini with installed registry edits to make the java app run seamless.
- GPSTest
- SBSH Time Console
- Finger Friendly Friends - Contact Manager (GREAT APP!)
- HTC Home Customizer (Find on XDA Developers)
- Kaiser Notification Turn of LED lights or change colors (Find on XDA Developers)
- OctroTalk (IM App)
- Yahoo GO 2.0
- Windows Live
- Skype

If you are new to this, I'd stick with the stock rom.., as it does work and it will remove complications while you learn the device. Not to mention it keeps your warranty intact.

I have an AT&T Tilt and have used a number of the custom ROMs out there. A few things to note before doing this:

1) Flashing the ROM will void warranty but you can put back the original ROM on there and keep your warranty intact.
2) Read all you can before you start flashing ROMs.
3) Read more! :)

From trying ROMs I've actually gain a huge performance improvement, better reception, better Radio so I get better reception and better battery performance. It took me a while to get into this and now I have a nice ROM that works pretty good, VERY responsive and it's built the way I want it, not AT&T. :)

However, just remember that if you brick your device it's all on you so this goes back to reading all you can before you start to flash your device.
