Youch! Cracked screen on the TILT -->

So I made a phone call this morning on my 1 1/2 week old Tilt and everything was great as always. Then I put the phone in my pocket like I always have and got into my car to drive to the beach. I figured I'd make a couple phone calls to wish a few people Merry Christmas & etc. while I'm driving. I took the phone out of my pocket and found the screen was cracked straight across. Nothing works now and I've gone to two ATT stores which both looked at me cross eyed and said that I have a problem. I called ATT and asked them if they could help me - they said they were too busy b/c it's the day after Xmas & their supervisors are swamped. I told them I'd be happy to wait on the phone while we correct this issue. Unfortunately after a 45 wait the person talked me into trying to go back to the store again that already shoed me away...

I'm visiting Florida for vacation which is making this problem even more difficult. Has anyone else had this issue with the Tilt? I absolutely love the phone and how it works, however I don't know how the heck it cracked on me - which scares me. I'm not certain if I should get another one or not...

Sorry, I had to vent!

Happy holidays,

Lance

This scares me as I just got a TILT. So which pocket did you put your phone in? Did you bump into anything?

Thats real bad news. This sounds like a long time ago when pda's started getting popular. People put them in their pockets 'cause they were small enough to do that and found lots of cracked screens. The screens on the new ones are pretty fragile i would think and not something to carry in a pants pocket because you may bump into something that could crack the screen. Did you buy it with a credit card? maybe it has protection on the card? hope you get it resolved soon. good luck.

Guess what. THe same thing just happened to me. I just pulled my AT&T Tilt out of my black canvas bag. The sceen has a hairline crack diagonally across. It refuses to light up. The darn thing is less than a week old. Am I SH*T out of luck.
I had the previous model, a Cingular 8125 for 12 months--and it survived multiple floor drops, chips, even an accidental toilet dunking. I can't believe the AT&T Tilt was so fragile. I'm not even really sure how a cracked it.
HELP!

The ATT store told me that it's my problem, so I purchased another one... it totally SUCKS however I'll give it one more chance. It was in my pocket with nothing else. I don't recall bumping into anything. As a matter of fact I made a phone call in the morning and a few minutes later when I hopped into my car I decided to make another call and grabbed the phone out of my pocket. Unfortunately it was toast - totally broken (hairline crack through the screen).

I called the 800 ATT number and they said I should be able to return it. After a few rounds they told me it's my problem and to send it to them for a possible credit. They tried to actually charge me full price for the Tilt - when I purchased it for the $299 prior. I told them there's no way I'm paying full price - I had my last phone for over 2 years!!! I'm hoping I'll receive a credit to my CC for this phone.

If it happens again I'm going to purchase something else - be careful!!!

If it were me I would call your credit card company if you purchased it with one. They sometimes give coverage to purchases but don't make a practice of telling you that. might be worth a shot.
