Difference between the AT&T and XDA ROM?

I've been reading about touchflo and HTC home pluging. Am I correct in assuming that I need to reflash the ROM to the OEM HTC ROM to use touchflo?

I presume I'd be installing the OEM ROM (getting rid of the ATT version)

As I understand it it will over right all the ATT boatwear, get rid of the stupid PTT. Will I lose anything? Specifically, MSFT outlook connectivity etc?

Does the device run faster?

If I screw up, do I have the ability to go back to the AT&T ROM?

Dan in Dallas...

No, you do not need tdo update to a different ROM. I have it installed on my Tilt, and have not changed ROMS.

I first went with the HTC Cube, but have changed to the SCPLF Cube, as it has 4 sides.

If you want to get rid of the bloatware, etc, I'd suggest you do that before installing a bunch of other stuff. actually, I don't know for sure, as I haven't done that. But I'm a bit scared to go do all that now, as getting everythign set up again, and resynching, I'm afraid I'lll double all my calendar appointments.

I'd also suggest having backup software and doing backups before you start. That way, if somethign screws up, it's easy to get back to where you were in the first place.

You can install another ROM. There are a number of ROMs for the Tilt devices out there which are much better compared to the AT&T shipping version, even without all the bloatware. Best thing to do is to read regarding flashing a ROM to the tilt and try a few. I think once you flash once you will not go back to the AT&T version, but that's just me. I've flashed my device a number of times and never had any issues with duplicate entries in my calendar/etc.

One thing to do before flashing is to make sure you have the original ROM for your device and as ewingr suggest above, backup your device if you made a lot of changes this way you can reflash your original ROM and then restore from backup.

You should be able to get the factory ROM as well as others over at XDA Developers. As soon as I got my Tilt I flashed it with a cooked ROM and it has worked great. The only issue that I have is the poor battery life.

What radio are you using? I haven't had any issues with battery life on my Tilt.
