Cool Tilt as "normal" walkie-talkie?

I'm stuck deciding between the AT&T Tilt and the T-Mobile MDA Vario III. They are of course the exact same unit but with one exception. The Tilt has the Push-To-Talk button instead of the front facing videoconferencing camera while the Vario III has the front facing videoconferencing camera but no Push-To-Talk button. Since I don't use the AT&T push-to-talk service I figured I would just go with the Vario III so I can get the front facing camera but then I thought of something....I use normal (not AT&T PTT) walkie-talkies A LOT for work (I work on a boat that travels to an island where cell service is spotty at best and non-existent in many locations so we use walkie-talkies to communicate with the boat while on the island). If it was possible to somehow use the push-to-talk button to talk to other "normal" walkie talkies it would be OUTSTANDING :approve: and worth giving up the front facing camera for. Does anyone know if there is a way to change it? Maybe a program to install that can manage the frequency?? I'd love to stop carrying both a cell phone ('cause I still need the information on it even if I have no signal) AND a walkie talkie?? I figure there's got to be SOME way to get it to work. Any ideas or hacks?? Thanks in advance.
