eWallet 6.0 Update

I received an eWallet 6.0 update email today. It's a bit early but I wonder if anyone has seen or tried the latest version?

Kabin. I was actually involved in Beta testing eWallet 6.0. It is fantastic. The biggest changes include the new convergance between eWallet and WebIS FlexWallet, which is a fantastic marriage; and the new online resourcew which allows you to access your information from anywhere.

Plus lots of other updates.

Sounds good. I upgraded today. It looks similar to 5.0, I'll have to check out some of that new functionality.

Slow and doesn't play well with X51V

I've been using FlexWallet for several years now, and I love it. Given the recent move to eWallet, I decided to make the switch (especially since the reviews showed eWallet to be pretty good). Unfortunately, I've had problems and I'm now considering getting rid of eWallet.

First, eWallet is extremely slow to startup - that's on my X51V. Can't image running it on a slower device.

Second, eWallet 6.0 has some video glitches with the VGA screen on the X51V. Support knows about this, but they don't have an ETA for a fix. They suggested running in table mode (flex view) instead of graphic mode (card face). That helps, but the program periodically leaves my main screen with garbage on it. The only way I've found to get rid of it is a soft boot - Uggggh!

I've been playing with SPB Wallet this evening, and it looks like a better option. It's fast and works fine on the X51V.

We've had a few people run into this. I'm willing to bet that you installed the FlexWallet icons? Nothing wrong with that except that all those icons need to get loaded when you start eWallet and that can take some time on slower devices.

We've optimzed the icons and also added a change to the way icons are handled in eWallet 6.0.1, due out in the next week or so. That should help quite a bit with the startup speed.

One way to speed it up right this second is to delete icons you aren't using. If you're loading 200 icons you don't use dumping the extras will solve the problem. The icons are stored in the eWallet->Graphics folder in your My Documents folder on your device.

Yep, and the real issue is that the X51v has a bug in it (it is the only device that this will happen on) where it fails to redraw the gradient properly. eWallet 6.1 (due out mid-year) comes with an option to turn the gradient off or on. We're adding this mainly for X51v users.

Sorry you are seeing this. In all honesty we haven't seen this and haven't been able to replicate it. We'll certainly keep trying though.

And if eWallet doesn't work out for you, let us know. We aren't going to make you pay for something that isn't right for you. I will say that when it comes down to it, there really is a reason we're the top selling wallet program on the market. Despite the issues you've had (and we're sorry you had any) we offer a great, solid program with excellent features and the best support in the business. I'm willing to bet that if you stick with eWallet you won't end up disappointed, but we also respect that you need to do what is right for your needs.
