Unable to make/recieve calls or use internet????

I am not able to use my Tilt to make any calls or internet.

I travelled from Home (Honolulu) to DC today. Tried to make a call later that day and was not able to. Tried to access the internet and said the remote modem disconnected the call. I waited and tried again later and the same problem. Called at&t and they sent updates to the phone. Still did not work. Sent me to a higher level of tech support to no avail. They said that I may have to switch the phone out. I show all my bars and the 3G signal. When I get someone to call my phone it sometimes goes to voicemail and other times says I cannot recieve calls. I was able to make one call out of the blue and then that was it.

I am a little lost here. Anyone have other suggestions?? Anyone else have this problem?

I had a similar problem with my Blackberry and receiving an update fixed the problem only after I shut it down and restarted.

This isn't the first time someone has post this problem on here. I would try & get a replacement. At the very least try updating to the newest ROM.

I had the problem when I went to Hawaii, but not on the mainland. A soft reset always got it going again, but it was very annoying to miss all the calls that wound up in voice mail. They replaced it and the same thing happened, but when they replaced it again, no more problem. I am still in the habit of doing a soft reset every few days. At any rate, the soft reset made it work every time, but nothing else would. Have them replace it

Mad Continued no use of Tilt

Even after soft and hard resets I cannot get the darn thing working. I am getting voicemail messages through though so I know when I have them. I went to the at&t store and they were confused. I showed him the forum on the at&t site where a bunch of other people were also having this problem. He suggested the replacement option as well. Kinda a pain as I have the nice screen protector and all around guards on the device to prevent scratches. Ah the price of technology. I do have the new ROM as well so that did not help. Kinda stuck till I get back to Hawaii I guess.

I know the feeling .. My first two had few problems on the mainland, but hated the Big Island. What I noticed was that as long as I had a 3G signal or an Edge signal, it would be OK, but if it dropped those and found a GPRS signal, it would stay locked on that antenna and would not find another one even if you were next to another antenna, and ATT admitted that it was a problem in tracking. A soft reset let it find an antenna again, but 10 of those a day was getting old. If I had a signal in Kona, and went into Home Depot and lost it, then it would never find a signal again. If I drove from Kona to Waimai it would get a weaker signal, but then stay on that weak antenna until I did a soft reset and it found a closer one. The newest (3rd) phone does not have that problem, and finds signals without a problem. There are some bad ones out there, and you must have one. Get the replacement, put Kaiser tweaks in it, and life should be good. If not, have them do it again, but when you get a working one, all will be fine.

Replacement

I have a new Tilt (or should I say refurb) on the way. Should be there by the time I get back to Hawaii. What a pain. A week without the phone and internet.
