Moving from Dell Axim to AT&T Tilt

I currently have a Dell Axim X50v PPC and am planning on buying an AT&T Tilt. The Axim currently syncs to my desktop XP computer via Activesync 3.7.1. I'm running Outlook 2007 on the desktop computer. I have a sync/charging cradle for the Axim connected via USB.

So what do I need to do when I get my Tilt? I'm pretty sure the Tilt will come with Activesync 4, which I'll need to install. Do I need to "unpair" my Axim before I start this process? If so, how do I do that? (I don't plan on syncing my Axim again after I start using the Tilt.) Do I just need to unplug the Axim cradle and plug in the Tilt USB cable? Before or after I install the software? Any other tips for migrating from a PDA to a PDA-phone? Thanks.

you should just be able to upgrade straight to 4.x. Your tilt probably comes with a copy but i'd grab the latest from MS... when I did my other profiles were unaffected.

(the axim makes a far better media player though.... )

I don't sync my Axim anymore either and did not change anything in the profiles. In fact, I have used the Activesync install to put programs onto my Tilt that were on the Axim. I made sure they were compatible with the Tilt first.

Thanks! My Tilt came today, I installed Activesync, and everything synced up just fine.
