TyTN II Unlocked
Well, newegg got rid of the Tilt and i guess replaced it with the TyTN II Unlocked smartphone. Same price tho *shrug*
Im still under contract with AT&T so i cant upgrade my phone though them, if i get this will it be a big deal to switch phones on my plan? will at&t throw a fit because i didnt buy it though them? What all is involved in getting an unlocked phone working on a certain network?

Does this phone take a sim card? If so, just use sim card from old phone into the new one. It also depends on your previous phone; is it a smart phone also? might need to check with AT&T
regarding your current data plan to see if covers the unlocked phone you want to use.

My current phone is in my profile. yes its a smartphone. I dont have a data plan, as far as the sim card, im not 100% sure, the Tilt does, and this is the same basic phone, i cant imagine it wouldnt also have a spot for a sim card.
heres the direct link..

All phones with ATT use a sim card. The is the main main part of their GSM technology. T-Mobile works the exact same way. You should be able to buy any quad band phone off the internet & pop in your sim card. I have never done it myself. The Tilt & the TyTN II are one in the same.

No, especially since you have the 3125. I purchased a 8525 off the ATT Premier website & just stuck in my simcard without issue.

one last question.
Would i have to register the phone itself or even Tell AT&T that i have the new phone? or would it just be a matter of swapping the sims, turning it on, and starting to use it instantly?

If you ever call for customer service, AT&T will want your IMEI so they can know what device you have. Other than that, they never give me any trouble and I have several phones that the 4 of my family members trade around. Several of these phones were bought from non-AT&T sources.
They might get a little pickier if you are using an iPhone on a regular data plan since they normally charge more for the Apple logo.
Otherwise they love loyal customers that pay full retail for phones. Having people buy subsidized phones eats into their profit. Of course, it tends to tie people down for 2 years, but loyal customers don't move around anyway. You certainly aren't going to move to Verizon just after you paid $500 for an unlocked GSM phone.

I have an unlocked Tilt with Windows Mobile 6.1 for sale in excellent condition. Newegg is asking $519.99, I am willing to sell mine for $350 and includes extra Seidio battery, spare battery/Tilt charger and Seidio protective case plus original AT&T box with everything that came with it. The only difference b/t this one and the TyTN II on Newegg is AT&T removed the front facing camera. It won't work with AT&T anyway. PM me if interested.

The HTC version of the TyTN II (AT&T Tilt), like the original TyTN has both a camera for snapping photos and a front facing camera for video calling. AT&T has these front facing cameras removed, or at least covered up, since they do not work with their cellular service. Anyway, I installed the latest official HTC 6.1 ROM on this puppy minus all the AT&T fluff and I'm going to post it on eBay next week unless I get an offer here first:)
