Vario III doesn't use the t-mobile US 3g spectrum, so it's unlikely that T-mo US will ever see it. They have some up and coming devices, some of which will be 3g. I'm currently using a tilt on t-mobile with no problems, and have been doing so since september of last year. Sure, the data connection isn't that fast, but I'm not sitting there surfing the web on that tiny screen, with the sucky internet explorer and all the other variants.
I mean come on, even my ipod touch sucks for web surfing. Zoom in, zoom out, zoom in, zoom out...scroll scroll scroll...it's totally un-enjoyable. And people RAVE about that browser.
There's also that little tidbit about how shitty the tilt performs. I'm not sure if you've done any of your research, but the tilt, kaiser, vario III, all the variants, have shipped without any hardware acceleration at all! So you've got a dual core 400mhz cpu, and a 3d accelerated graphics chip, and it struggles to play video at full screen.
In all honesty, with all the new stuff coming out in the next 2-3 months, you should hold out. Touch diamond, touch pro, xperia x1, the android handset(s). If you buy the tilt now, you're going to be very sad in a very short time.
So to summarize, the tilt is a good phone, but buggy. And you shouldn't buy one because there are much better things being released very soon.
