google maps problem

When I use "search" in Google Maps, the letters I type into the search box don't appear on the screen. So I can't tell if I've typed the address correctly. The letters are apparently being recognized by the device, because if I do manage to type the address correctly, it gives me great directions. But the chances of typing an entire address correctly without seeing what I'm typing are very slim; it only happens about 1 out of 10 times I try. Anyone else having this problem or know of a fix for this? (I have a TYTN II.)

You in portrait of landscape mode? If in landscape mode check that you don't have cleartype enabled for landscape. It's over-smoothing.

cleartype wasn't the issue
