How do i mute notification sounds?

Hows it going im a new tilt user and new to WinMobile and trying to get the hang of this thing. I recently set it to play a mp3 song as my sms notification, And assumed it would stop playing when i opened/dismissed/deleted the message. However i found that it continues to play until the mp3 is completed no mater what, even if i turn the screen back off etc.... Im assuming there must be some simple way to change it to stop playing when i open the message or some key i can hit to stop it manually?

Thanks for any help and sorry if this has been gone over before, i tried a few quick searches and couldnt find an answer.

Well yeah i know i could do that, but i am assuming there has to be some way to set it to stop playing upon opening the message? I would rather not have just some short little beep that will go unnoticed by me half of the time.
