6.1 Weirdness
I updated the ROM on my Tilt as soon as it was released. I forgot to do a soft reset before all the bloatware was installed so I performed a hard reset, got rid of the bloatware and did a fresh install of all my applications. Since I did all this, I have terrible problems connecting to the network, but only at home. I have a 3G connection when I'm at work in downtown DC. When I get home to the far suburbs, I am connected using EDGE. The device will not connect to EDGE for data and has to be soft reset several times in order for it to connect. There appears to be no problem with voice; just data. I also notice that the battery discharges rapidly when this happens. So far, it has happened every day this week. I am thinking another hard reset is in order but I am definitely not looking forward to it, as I have a lot of applications on the device. Anyone else experiencing this problem or have a suggestion about what's causing it and what to do about it?

try changing the gsm band from auto to 850-1900.

sometimes it helps the device with regard to reception and tower connectivity

Man, I had this problem for six months, ATT had no clue. I posted on every forum I could find: Several on this one,XDA,PPCGeeks,ATT. I found no fix. Exchange the phone if you can. My problems started when I went to work in a non 3G area. After that, The problems you describe started happening at my home area. I can never get more than 2 bars of 3G at home. Everywhere else it's 5. A friend brought his brand new Tilt over so I could put some apps on it, his tilt had full bars and it downloaded data about 3x faster than mine. ATT went as far as working on the tower in my area(1 mile from my house) and that hasn't helped. Two weeks ago, I quit and called to get a replacement. The problems have not surfaced with this one, but I still only get 2 bars 3G signal. You can do a search on my posts to see if someone had any other suggestions.(They were so long ago, I quit checking them)

this has nothing to do with gsm connectivity! this only applies to data connectivity, not voice

my fault... im reading too many threads

yes, you need to reapply your wap settings as stated above.

when you do a hard reset, or apply a rom and dont install the providers settings (and bloatware), you need to manually apply data connection settings.

heres a cab file which will apply the settings automatically

Pocket PC Addict Forums - Downloads - Shogun_cing (cingular network settings)

and the settings, should you want to set the traditional way

Cingular MediaNet Settings for Cingular 8125 and Windows Mobile 5 Phone Edition - Pocket PC Addict Forums

This could be a coinciendence.....

After installing 6.1, twice (so far) my battery has drained over night. The phone is only a couple months old, so I (hope) don't think the battery could be going bad. It happened a couple days ago and then again last night.

Anyone else see this or have a clue?
