Tilt Windows Mobile 6.1 Problem Thread

I figured out a work around so that I can type in landscape with PIE and opera mini using the keyboard while being able to see the text! I don't know why this had me stumped for so long. I turned off clear type, including the clear type options in kaiser tweak, and I set my text to large in the settings. I hope this helps with anyone else experiencing the same thing. I'm typing this with my tilt's keyboard right now.

* I have some issues in PIE in some input boxes where I can't see what I'm typing. It's like it's a white font on a white screen. strange.
* I have a similar problem with the touch screen that others are having where I touch one part of the screen and another part "feels" it.
* Love the threaded SMS, but I'd like the option to view it the old way and delete messages individually.
* LOVE Voice Command, but I'd like to be able to turn off the announcement for Call Waiting. It's a bit distracting to hear that during a call.

I have also had several problems since the 6.1 upgrade

1. Power button flash - same as everyone else, except it is pretty much every time I turn the screen on while the keypad is locked
2. GPS takes foreeevvvvverrrr to connect, but it seems to be more accurate.
3. I've had to reboot 3 times in the past 24 hours because I ran out of RAM and it pretty much completely locked up, but I wasn't running anything in the background.
4. I can't sync with my PC anymore. Not that big of the deal because I'll just use wifi to grab emails/files, but I like being able to sync my contacts to my PC.
5. Also have the problem when I slide the keyboard out that the text will sometimes go below the screen, or whenever I'm using the on screen keypad, the keypad will completely block the text field
6. I have a hard time forwarding messages with the threaded view, since the only way I can get to a message is the scroll wheel - and then once the message is highlighted I can choose the option to forward it

I haven't noticed any other issues yet.... The most annoying one has to be the power button screen flash. It drives me nuts!

when making a panorama picture in stitch mode with 3 frames, im able to make a picture, but after saving it, it screws up. the picture is the same size it should be in panorama "this is my second tilt, the first one was defective", but the colors are in weird patterns. like there would be blotches of magenta , green, normal, gray, or blue. the picture would also be a mess, different parts of the picture in different sizes would be re-arranged. the picture looks like it should pre-saving, the post is just screwed up. when taking the frames, the load time between taking the frame and the next is about 4 times longer than it should be. ive even tried it with no other programs running, and it still has the problem

I have had so many problems, I am switching to an iPhone...
Sorry, but I cant stand how slow it is now. The other day I had the phone calling people without me even using it. I would pick it up to call someone and it was already calling someone and had been on for about 1 hour in the call. THe second time this happened, it would not allow me to hang up to make my own call. I had to reset it.

Sometimes when switching from the slide out to the keyboard and back the screen would get cut off, making it hard to use.

there are more and more problems I could post, but I dont feel like bothering.

I have already ordered my iphone and I already know they work great.. my brother uses it...

I've experienced many of the same problems as every one else.

- The device is less responsive
- If the device has been suspended for more than a certain amount of time when I turn it on it immediatly turns back off
- the version of Voice Command built into the device does not work over bluetooth
- device is less stable

Lastly it appears that the device has an entirely different power manager than before the upgrade. I had been writing some programs to do various things with the power state of the different hardware in the device before the firmware update. After the firmware update the code stopped working and in looking deeper I saw that the new power manager was completly different from the one that had been there. Normally this would not matter but because of the flash issue (where the device turns off after being turned on) I wonder if the power manager is the source of that problem. Will need to look into it later.



Question, most of us are typing about the same problems. Now that we have identified problem behaviours what happends next? If AT&T is about to EOL the device do you think they will even bother working with HTC to publish a fix?

my at&t tilt was working flawlessly with winmo 6.0 :)

i installed the winmo 6.1 upgrade and it went to the dogs...
basically all the same things that have been posted here.
started reminding me of the bugginess I had with my sprint 6700 windows mobile 5.0 phone. :realmad:

ventually the tilt became unuseable. could not sync mail with exchange. all i could do was make a phone call.

so last night i did a hard reset. caught it before it put any bloatware on the device. will just leave it as is and not install any apps for a while.

maybe one of the apps I installed messed it up, but of course - how to know?

Did the hard reset last night. This was the first time I was able to reset without the bloatware.
here's my approach.
when you're doing the hard reset, when the device prompts:
"tape the screen to continue" - stop.
Get the stylus primed and read to do the soft reset.
Hold the stylus with your right and.
Then with your left hand, tap the screen with your finger.
You have to do the soft reset before the countdown dialog starts.

Have been running all day today - no problem.
Have not installed any third party apps.
also I notice I am missing a lot of bloatware from the "Programs" folder

I've been having trouble connecting to the internet in both Opera 9.5 beta and IE. I noticed in the Connection Settings, MEdia Net was set to "ims.cingular" so I changed it to "wap.cingular" a few days ago and it has worked fine.

Just now it wasn't working, and I went back to the settings to find it was back to "ims.cingular." I did a soft reset and it was still on "ims" but a few minutes later it was back to "wap" and had the username and password, which I did not have when I manually changed it to "wap."

The only issue that I am having is the power button flash. this has only happened a couple of times. Generally when I push the power button nothing happens. I have to push it a second time. I have noticed that if I push & hold the power button a little longer it come on without an issue.

The GPS does seem to be a little slow to acquire a signal. I purchased my Tilt only a couple of weeks ago & did not use it with WM6. I flashed it with WM6.1 before even using it.

My 8525 with external GPS would acquire a sat signal right away with Live Search.

sometimes when txting and switching to landscape mode(by sliding up the screen) my txt starts appearing insanely low on screen to the point where only the top half of my letters displays on screen. being able to change scroll bar sizes would've been nice as all of mine are way smaller than they were in 6.0.

I get the same thing. I can only read the first line of text that I am typing. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

I recently upgraded to the 6.1 software. I did a hard reset upgraded and allowed the bloatware. I tried to do a restore from SPB Backup but it did not go well. So hard reset, load bloat, and reinstalled everything from scratch. It took about 6 hours of work finding codes and downloading new installs to insure I was up to date.

I was able to import my settings from pocket plus which was nice. The rest was fresh installs. I have had the tilt since the first week of availability so it had a lot of junk on it. Fresh rebuild helped clear a lot of space and settings.

Long story short, I have been rather pleased. I have not had any of the problems listed here.

Once I ran GPS test (which took a good bit of time to get a 3d fix) things worked as well as before. TomTom, GPStoday, live search, google all respond well.

I recently got Kinoma Play through a trial of real player. Kinoma was only barley usable at first. Two updates later, I love this program. I do get a hang during it's initial scan of files upon start up but a fix is supposed to be on the way. I stop the process with memmaid and restart to pass the hang.

In pocket plus I get the occasional icon disappearing from the today launcher tab. This is a known 6.1 issue and is being looked into.

Everything else is good so far. Battery life does seem to be better. That would be my main reason for the upgrade. I cannot say I use any new features from 6.1. I am not much for the voice command. Tried it before, didn't do much for me.

You cannot restore a backup file from a previous ROM version. Some program clain that it will work but not recommended.

I had the same proplem. I just used my stylus and poked the little hole nder the fone next to my usb connector for 5 seconds. te fone will reboot and I kinks went away.
