remote desktop mobile

I'm looking for a simple way to get remote desktop mobile to work. I tried following all the videos I can on how to set it up to run off my vista machine(the most hopeful of the guy was using an 8125 in this video running 6.0) but to no avail. is there a program that I can run out there that will give me the info I need to punch into my tilt's Remote Desktop Mobile screen? I'm in an area that is "Fine edge" and will be 3G in less than a month so any help would be appreciated.

what have you done so far to the host computer? firewall? and remote desktop settings on the host computer?

did you figure out your external ip address?
have you configured your firewall on your computer and router for the remote desktop ports?

and don't forget port forwarding from the router to the PC.

If you have WiFi at your house, I'd try to make it work there first... just to make sure the PC is configured correctly

I believe the only thing I have done is gone into my settings and checked a box that said "enable remote assistance" or something along that nature. Everything beyond that I haven't done. I wont be using this over wifi as if I am inside my house's network I will just be on one of my computers. I will specififcally being using this over FINE EDGE and 3G. I know my internal IP address and whatnot. as far as opening up those ports on my router no I have no done that. So I just need to log into my router's settings module and open up those ports for remote access?
You'd figure as handy of a feature this is there'd just be a program that could open up everything for you and give you the info you'd need to plug into your phone. If I figure this out maybe I will make one. There just doesn't seem like a whole lot of literature on this with a vista machine.
