AT&T Tilt will not turn on???

Have had my ATT Titlt for 6 months now and has worked great. Plugged my phone into charger last night and it was working fine... Got up this morning and the phone will not turn on and when it is plugged into the charger there is a solid red light on the display... Is it a dead battery or a bad charger??? Thank You

Same thing happened to me last month, I called them and ATT suggested I go to any ATT store, and have them put another battery in it, and if it worked, then it was a bad battery. It was indeed bad, and they sent one over night to me under warranty in Hawaii. Just before the battery died, I had a few days where battery life was only about 6, then 4 then 3 hours, then just the solid light as you describe. Check it out at an ATT store, then call for a replacement.

I had the same problem with my T-Mobile MDA (same basic phone). I found instructions on-line to "jump start" the battery.

Basically the problem is that it needs the phone powered on to start charging the battery, if the battery gets too dead, the phone can't power on and the charge can never happen.

What you need to do is get an old USB cord that you can cut open the wires on. All it needs is an "A" type end (the type that usually goes into the computer). Cut the non- "A" end off and strip back the wires. Expose about 1/4" of the red and black wires (ignore/cut back the other wires).

Throughout this entire process make sure the red and black wires do not touch. Plug the "A" end into the computer.

Take the battery out of the Tilt or MDA. Look on the one side, you will ssee the copper connectors and they are marked + and -

Hold the red wire to the + positive side of the actual battery and the black wire to the - negative side of the battery. Keep it there for about 3 - 5 mins (your fingers will get tired). Not too long, the battery will get warm.

Unplug the USB cable. Put the battery in the phone and power it up. As soon as it powers up start charging it.

This will recover a totally dead battery.

Or you could get an external charger off of Ebay.

That is like the geekiest solution to a solve a problem that could be solved by just changing the battery at the AT&T store. :approve::approve:

I gotta give you a couple thumbs up for that.:)

Bought mine second hand on Ebay, I didn't want to sign a contract so I'm using mine on a month to month plan.

The AT&T store would be of no use to me.

You could still go into the store & ask about the battery. They should still let you put in a battery from the store to verify if it is the problem or not.

I had the red light
I was really worried, because I bought the phone online, which means AT&T wasn't able to help with this problem. Then I read your post and I tried and went great. thank you.
I learned not to let my phone's battery go completely dead
