I can get message alert on emails that are received in my inbox.
My company is using Exchange. In my Outlook on my desktop, I created some E-mail rules to place messages in certain folders when they arrive. These are server based rules.
On my Tilt, I have configured my Synched folders to include some subfolders under the Inbox folder. (good example. MOM alerts are moved to the MOM folder under the Inbox folder when the message hits the Exchange server)
When a message comes in that is in a subfolder to the Inbox, I get no alerts. I only get alerts when a message is in the Inbox. Additionally, the Unread Message notification does not tell me that I have unread messages in my subfolders. It only tells me the number of unread messages in the Inbox.
Is this by design? I'ld hate to think that something so simple was overlooked? Or am I missing something here?

By desing, Outlook Mobile cannot alert the user about new received mails from Inbox subfolders.
There is an application which solves the problem of unread mails from subfolders.
Look at magica.ro/pda_pocket_checkmail.php.
This application monitor ActiveSync events and alert the user when there are unread mails in inbox and Subfolders.

We published version 2.0 of CheckMail application.
New features are:
- displays messages on "Today Screen";
- audio alert when new messages are received;
- audio reminder if the new messages where not read (the interval when these verifications are made is selectable by user);
- by taping on CheckMail application, user can open Messaging application (Outlook);
- user can select in CheckMail application not to check Inbox (only subfolders).
