How to transfer data/apps to replacement phone?

I had to get a replacement phone under warranty. So I have to set it up and send my other one back. My original one has a bad screen, which I can read a little but not too well.

Is there any easy way to transfer all my apps and data from one phone to the other? I don't see any backup options under ActiveSync. This is an AT&T Tilt 8925.

AT&T has a Mobile Backup program for their customers; check with them.

ok, taking the sprite backup solution, here's what i have. i had to move to a new device since my original was damaged. so i backed up the original device (windows mobile 6) with the built in sprite backup 5.1 and put that onto the storage card. now trying to restore to the new device (which has windows mobile 6.1) and it's telling me to get some device upgrade files from the sprite software website. i don't see these.

so i went for the $10 htc special to upgrade the built in sprite backup 5.1 to 6.5 and now i'm trying to install that and getting "SetupSprintBackup65 is not a valid pocket pc application"

ps the storage card was encrypted and that was a whole other ordeal that i finally got past, at&t should provide better instructions for migrating to a new device when they send one!

i'm really frustrated and need to get my phone working. Can anyone help?

If you get this error, "SetupSprintBackup65 is not a valid pocket pc application"

It sounds like you are trying to run a program on your Phone that should be run on your PC.

If the Setup file for Sprite Back up is an .EXE then you need to connect your Phone to your PC via active sync and Run the setup on your PC, it will then install the proper .cab file to your phone.

Since the old device is windows mobile 6 and the new device is running windows mobile 6.1, I would not backup the old device and restore on the new device. I know that Sprite now says it can restore backups that were made from a different device and different OS to a new device and new OS, but I don't trust it.

Instead I would sync the old device to my computer to make sure all my contacts, tasks, and appointments are on the computer and then I would sync this information to the new device. Then I would install all my software to the new device and set up my wifi connection(s), bluetooth connection(s) and messaging account(s) from scratch. I would copy any files from the old device to a storage card and then copy those files to the new device from the storage card.

It will take a bit longer to do it this way, but you shouldn't run into any unforeseen problems. You can still backup the old device and hang on to the backup file, just in case you missed something, but I would not restore the backup file to my new device.
