Icon13 Last question is there settings to make the camrea LESS sluggish to take a pic??

OK so im not to big on the htc camrea because its soooo slow to take a picture because it trys to center things and it makes it hard to just snap a pic real quick of someone or something. Is there any settings or programs to use that will just make it take the pic right when i press the button or does it have settings to do it? because iv tryd looking through the camrea settings and i cant figure it out.

This is the one thing which makes me mad about the Tilt - The video driver issues.

Here's the short version for those who don't know about this.

Essentially, the Tilt does NOT make use of the hardware video processing capabilities and relies completely on software rendering. As a result, apps like the camera have issues (sluggish videos, for example). I was trying to record a video using my Tilt during an Xmas party I was at last weekend. It was like watching a fast moving slide show. The same issue affects attempts to take pictures as, when you press the button, the camera attempts to focus the image which, on the screen, really takes a long time because the software's trying to handle all of the video information it's receiving and just can't handle it.

I know there's a third-party attempt to create a "more perfect" video driver for the Tilt. I think I read somewhere that somebody loaded the video driver for the Samsung Omnia (or something like that). You'll want to do some research on both the xda-developers site and htcclassaction.org to see what your possible options are. Other than that, you're as screwed as the rest of us, I think.

I don't have a tilt, so I don't know what the specific options are for that device, but some things you can do to speed up the camera on any camera phone are:

Use the lowest resolution you can tolerate for the job. Higher resolution takes a better picture but slows down the device considerably

Set compression to a lower value. My hw6925 offers good, better & best compression. Setting the compression option to good speeds things up considerably. A higher compression (best) creates a better picture, but slows things down.

Use good lighting and make sure the lighting is behind or beside you and not behind the object you are photographing. Low light conditions cause the camera to slow down as it self adjusts to accommodate the low light.

HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera/Captparam/
and set
CaptureTimer = 0 (old=5000)

You should also - go into the camera advanced settings and turn off the shutter sounds and set the review time to no limit. It should also be noted your device is a phone with a camera installed, not a camera which can make phone calls. It will never be perfect but this may get you closer.

Thank the people from XDA Developers for the hack
