Running Low on Free Storage

I just inserted a 8g micro card in my phone so that I would stop getting the "your phone is running low..." message. The I can see that my phone acknowledges that it now has a storage card but I'm still getting the message. I have powered it down and back up but still get the message.

p.s. I have a tilt and the 8g is blank.

What about your system memory?

Go to Settings -> System -> Memory and look at how much storage and program memory you have free. You may have to clear off some programs and/or move saved items (ie pictures, music, documents) from the phone itself to that 8GB card you installed.

Phone memory and storage card memory ar two different things.

If you have a bucket full of sand and you put an empty bucket next to it, does the sand spontaneously divide itself between the buckets?

You need to look at what is filling your memory up and move things to the SD card.
Music, videos, voice recordings, email attachments, applications etc all fill up the memory.
Data files, Pics, music etc can all just be move to the card.
Applications are a little harder because you lose the short cuts, sometimes it is easiest to remove them and then reinstall them to the card.

Also clear the cache of your internet browser.

Another thing to clear up device memory. Make sure to clear the cache and history frequently from your browsers. It builds up fast!
You can install aps like Kaiser Tweak or Advanced Configuration Tool, you can use some of the settings to send your downloads, pics, music, etc to your storage card instead of your device.
They are available at XDA developers.com as freeware, along with hundreds of other apps developed by the forum users.
Make sure you read through the threads and throughly understand how to use the apps.
