Noob to the tilt, couple of ?'s for you all...
Hi All,
So I just ordered the tilt finally and had a couple of quick questions. For one I did not order any data packages. I know that I will not see the full potential of the phone but my wife and I are tight on money with a kid on the way. I read over the stickies and have a general idea of what I should do but wanted to make sure I won't screw things up.
So if you were me and had no data package, what apps would you run and what necessary changes would you perform?
Thank you in advance for the help, it is truly appreciated!
Cheers,
jacky

I would say that, with no data plan, you need to look at apps which were made for a standard PDA, apps which don't require any connection to the Internet outside of via your computer's ActiveSync connection. I would recommend a good personal information manager (PIM) such as Pocket Informant or Agenda Fusion. I would also suggest getting a program like eWallet. It's a great program to keep things like bank account information, software serial numbers, credit card info, and all sorts of other pieces of information you might need when you least expect it. If you're looking to keep track of your finances on your Tilt, look into either SPB Finance or Cash Organizer Premium. I've used both and I can recommend either one to you.
You may also want to go to the Best Pocket PC Freeware thread here on Mobility Site and check out the recommendations there. There's a ton of stuff you'll find on the first post alone and it's updated regularly.

Cool Kevin, thanks for the info. I'll look into it once my tilt arrives!

Don't forget to get a screen protector for your tilt, it is quite easy to scratch it, I use one from ppctechs.com and it has saved my screen multiple times.

Oh, and this is the screen protector I use. Two great things about it I like:
1. Anti-glare
2. You can remove it, wash it, and reapply it. No need to buy disposables!

Also if you use Wi-Fi to access the internet for any reason, make sure you disable phone useage. Even if connected to wi-fi, your phone will try and connect to the network to speed up the connection. So even though you are connected to wi-fi, you may still see charges.
