Sync Issue with Tilt and 6.1.. Different than the rest. ;)

My Tilt is upgraded to 6.1/
I'm using Mobility 6.1 in Vista ultimate 64bit.

I had synced my phone under my old XP laptop but this is a new laptop and I just flashed the phone to 6.1

When I connect my device I can sync it with Media player no problem. Mobility center pops up but when I click on set up your device I get an error:"There is a problem with your connection. Please dissconnect and reconnect your device and try again." When I click OK it lets me browse the device.

I need to sync my contats( outlook) so I can get all my phone numbers again!

On the phone under settings- connections- usb to pc I have the Enable advanced network functionality unchecked ( it should be noted that I got to this point with it on so checking/ unchecking it didnt make a difference)

The correct device shows up under device manager. HTC USB Sync
Under the firewall setings: Windows Mobile-based Device Connectivity AND Windows Mobile-based device Connectivity are both allowed.

Now one of the things I don't understand is on the phone under active sync there are no options like when I had 6.0. It just gives you options for Exchange setup. I do have my phone locked and I do enter the correct password when I sync my phone.

Have you downloaded and installed Windows Mobile Device Center.

It is the Vista version of Active sync.

First thing allow me to thank you for while being a noob, still being able to provide a useful description and details of your troubleshooting attempts.

There should be an award for this, I certainly appreciate it...

ok:
try disabling the password on the device temporarily, long enough to get a partnership setup.
Do you have UAC enabled?
when you say you can browse the device, is it ONLY the storage card? (is WMStorage enabled on the phone)

Mobility Center and Windows Mobile Device Center are two different programs.

Vista uses the Sync Center to set up a sync with a smartphone. I remember it was a nightmare to get it initially set up but now tis working.
