Assigning Ringtones to Contacts

I didnt have a problem with this before, but i guess it was when i updated to windows mobile 6.1 professional.

I was able to assign each ringtone to a contact, they were stored on the storage card.

i guess now, after the update, When i edit a contact and try to assign a ringtone... I only have a drop down with the ringtones that were provided with the phone.

is there a certain folder where i can copy my files to be viewed in the drop down?
a lil help please.. Thanks

my docs\my ringtones and \windows

HOWEVER...

VipPimRingTones from XDA will let you assign ringtones based on category or name. I keep the ringtones on storage card and then make categories for my contacts, Sync to phone and run the app. It will assign the ringtone to the contact regardless of the path. However, if you go into the contact and click the ringtone field, you will lose the assignement and will have to re-run the app to put the ringtone back

It most likely has to do with the size of the ring tone. I can't remember the limit, but I know there is one with WM 6.1 that was not there before. I had to use an mp3 editor and cut the ring tones down to 30 seconds, set at mono. This takes them to less than 300 kb. ALL my ring tones are on my SD card and every time I hard reset my phone, I can reassign them no problem. I also think there is a post like this in XDA, a tweak I think that removes the size limit. I don't know if this matter, but they are stored on the card under: storage card/my documents/my ringtones. That may also have something to do with it. {{EDIT}} I just moved and renamed the folder with my ringtones and my phone still found them. So it must be the size of the filter

Create a "My Documents" folder on your storage card. Create a "My Ringtones" subfolder in "My Documents" and copy ringtones there.
