Help Me Choose My Financial Software
Hello everybody.
I have been a regular user of SPB Finance ever since I switched to my Tilt a year ago. Unfortunately, I am also a user of Quicken Deluxe 2006 on my desktop. This is unfortunate because, at the end of April, Quicken will discontinue support for this version and I will no longer be able to pull my transactions into Quicken from within the application. This is also unfortunate because SPB Finance isn't compatible with later versions of Quicken.
I had used Cash Organizer previous to my Tilt switch, but I have had issues with the program since then, hence my move to SPB. I tried loading both the version I own, 2005 Premium, and the trial of the latest version, 2008. 2008 locked up the Windows Mobile Device Center on my laptop (as you can guess, I'm running Vista), and 2005 just wouldn't sync.
So, here are my options that I can see:
1. Switch to Microsoft Money Plus and continue to use SPB Finance, syncing between the two programs.
2. Switch to the stand-alone version of SPB Finance and use no desktop financial software. I don't like this one because I'd have to manually download transactions to my desktop, transfer those files to my phone, and then import them into SPB Finance, deleting duplicate entries each time.
3. Splash Money. I fooled around with this app before but wasn't too impressed by it, but my options are limited in this case.
4. Web-based finance options, such as Mint or Wasabe.
5. Upgrade to Quicken 2009 and give Cash Organizer another shot.
What do you all think? Have any of you run into my situation? Have any of you used any of the software I listed above? Should I just create an Excel worksheet to track my finances and stop whining?
