Activesync 4.5 problem after upgrade to xp

I finally upgraded my win2k OS to XP Pro and now I cannot establish a partnership with my Tilt.

I get this error code " There was a problem installling this hardware: Windows Mobile-based Device #4 An error occured during the installation of the device.
The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name.

I've done the normal uninstall of Activesync on both the PC and the Tilt. When I try to establish a connection to create the new partnership I get this error with the Windows Mobile-based Device number increasing incrementally.

I've done a google search and have seen some possible fixes that have to do with the registry. Can someone help me through this problem? I'm not too crazy about messing with the registry on my own....

Tilt uses windows mobile 6. Probably takes windows mobile device center as I would guess it uses
