HTC P3600 (HTC Artemis)
Taiwanese phone / PDA manufacturer HTC made clear the other day what specs they are planning to put on their new gadget, named Artemis. Artemis is expected to released in third quarter of this year. They are also planning on to release a few other gadgets in the same time frame. Here the features:
  • Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 PPC CE
  • 2.8 inch QVGA TFT LCD touch screen
  • 128MB ROM, 64 MB RAM
  • TI OMAP 850 at 200 MHz
  • Wireless WAN
  • EDGE / GPRS / GSM
  • Quad-band 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz
  • Bluetooth
  • Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g
  • 2 MP digital camera
  • FM Radio
  • GPS
  • 1250 mAh battery
  • Mini USB 1.1
  • Micro SD expansion slot

Excellent specs i would say but the only thing that bothers me [well prima facie at least] as i have not used the device personally is that would the TI OMAP 850 at 200 MHz be able to handle the GPS and other multimedia functions and also Skype.... im sure the people at HTC must have tested the processor with software n application which r processor hungry...but im just a lil scared as to whether they have compromised the processor power for higer battery life...

well lets hope for the best... and hopefully sometime in the near future hope to have a sleek n sexy looking device like the Artemis with a samsung or a more powerful processor...

Does someone at HTC hear me !!!!

There is a thread on the Skype forum about Ti OMAP processors and that the newer processors with the newest Skype work, you just can't use other programs at the same time. This deivce would be ideal for me but I do multitask quite a bit, such as listening to music and browsing the internet. If someone gets a chance to review it and can successfully multitask, all be it a little sluggish, I would get it. I don't play very high demanding (In PDA terms) games on my current device and a review of another PDA with a TI OMAP 850 processor gave benchmark results of video playback just a bit lower than my rx3715, so it can't be all that bad.

The mouse pointer idea also seems a little pointless when you have a big touchscreen jsut in front of you!!

well RICOUK... multitasking is something which i definitely would want on my device or else its just pointless.... and as i am from India i dont need the GPS too much there r loads of people on the road to guide u to ur destination .. and moreover i want my video playback to be crisp so the Artemis is out for me as of now... lets hope HTC come out with a better n more powerful device the next time which has killer looks.... there should be some eye candy value to such devices.... wouldnt u agree with me?

I would agree, the reason I don't like the HTC Trinity is the look of it, it is white and looks too much like a crappod, I mean Ipod!! If only the design was similar to the leaked design of it that went around the interent a while ago. Arhwell, in the world of PDA's, compromising seems to be the key word.

While writing this I just received an email from TomTom when I asked them about the device running the software. Their reply:

I would say that is a fair enough answer and would make sense really!!

all of it makes complete sense.... i just wish like many other that the look of the Trinity would somehow be changed on a production model and they make is sleeker... ur right about it looking like a "crappod"
