I am pleased with my
Audiovox SMT 5600 - first, as it's performance as a phone AND, second, it's performance as a smartphone. (It was PC Magazine's "
Editor's Choice" for about 8 months running and is the smallest smartphone available.) Most of the features that you have become accustomed to on your PDA are now available on your phone - and some more. Why, you can even identify folks in your Contacts list that you do not want to recieve calls from.
One thing you may want to check out before jumping, there is a lot of buzz about the to-be-announced
HP iPaq hw6515 and HP iPaq hw6715 (which will succeed the HP iPaq hw6315). They will combine the features of the PPC and smartphone (with various combination of features in a form factor of a PPC).
One plus that come with adopting this solution is that all of utilities and applications that you have on your Axim (and have become accustomed to) can now be installed and used on the HP smartphone. (I had to purchase another $100 or more for the smartphone version of the software that I added to my Audiovox.) For additional info check out the thread at iPaqHQ.com:
