Would this be a good first smartphone?

Time to get a new phone, and I am on AT&T. I use my Axim everyday. Not that I want to totally replace my v51, but the price is not that bad...

Why not, it does what the Axim did. Price is right, some places even beat ATT's 150 price. WM 6.5 is just a little different than WM 5 and 6, you should have it dialed in pretty quick. You don't even need the "fake server" trick like you did on the X51V :)

I wonder if you'd be able to get in on this deal:

HTC PURE Windows Phone (AT&T) for $0.01 HTC PURE Windows Phone (AT&T) for $0.01

As the owner of both the Diamond 2 and the Axim x51v, I have to say that the Diamond 2 has virtually replaced my Axim. It's smaller, faster and with 3g connections you are always able to get on-line.

The processor is "slöwer" on the Diamond 2 than on the Ax, but it is several generations newer.

All-in-all, the Diamond is an EXCELLENT device, and like the Ax, it is a high-end product. If you don't have the dosh for the new HTC HD, then this is the best 2nd choice and a great "starter" device.
