Micro SD card

For some reason my Fuze is not seeing Micro SD cards inserted into the phone. If I go to Settings\Memory\Storage Card tab and insert the card while on that site I see it momentarily flicker that it sees the card, then it says "Total storage card memory: Not installed"

Anyone else have this problem or did I just get a Fuze with a bad port?

Did you take this card from another device? If so then you might want to try reformatting the card.

I'm finding that the SD card randomly gets "forgotten".

I setup my SD card so it points to "My Documents" folder. So when the memory card disappears... I find that I suddenly have "My Documents" and a "My Documents 2" which is pointing to my microSD card.

I Purchased the phone a few days ago, running the "NotATreoFan" AT&T Free ROM. I've seen this happen several times already.

Having a Dell Axim x51v, a Samsung Blackjack, Samsung Blackjack 2, Samsung Epix, and a Fuze... all of which use this hack, the Fuze is the only one which randomly drops the SD card.

Maybe its the ROM or the default driver that comes with it.

There was a common problem on the x51v forgetting cf/sd cards. The fake server trick fixes it on the x51.

Maybe you could try the fake server on the fuze and see if it works:
Solution - Axim not turning on, Disappearing CF/SD Cards and Battery Discharge

It will just drop the SD card? Does a soft-reset resolve the issue until it drops again? I have three 8525 that do not see the SD card when installed if the unit is turned on. It will not recognize the SD card until I do a soft-reset but this is a whole other issue.

That is good to know since I am consider swapping my Tilt for the Fuze.

What type of card are you using? (Brand / Size)

Understand from reading that not ALL micro SD cards are created equal, and/or certain cards simply seem to work better in certain gear.

Am awaiting micro card from NewEgg - an inexpensive Kingston - so have some interest in this subject....

SD Oddity

I am not having any issues per se with the Fuze seeing my 8GB microsd. It sees it fine, and has not dropped it since.

The only one issue I did have is when using my desktop software for Pocket CoPilot to copy some maps over, the software said, my storage card had only 80MB left, when in fact, I had over 3GB. I'm not sure if this was a Fuze issue or a software issue.

So, I just unplugged the SD card and put it into the USB adapter, that San Disk provides, and my pc saw it just fine. Copied the maps over and put it back in the phone and the Fuze sees it just fine. Too. I would hate to lose the contents of my MicroSD as I have quite a few programs, tons of music and movies on it. Which reminds me, I should go back that up now...

Later,
James
