Since all the offers on the Fuze I see are for new customers, how are Tilt owners buying the Fuze? Are you paying full price, or are you able to buy it with the rebates and extending your current AT&T contract.
you can usually renew your contract 3-6 months prior to contract end

I'm out of contract right now. I have an 8525 and am considering a tilt or fuze. 200 and 300 respectively. Today I went to see the fuze in person. One salesman had a test model for a month. He was kinda cocky too. I was able to check out the phone a bit. I asked about the gps and was told it was an extra 10/month. Then I asked about wifi and internet use and he told me all fuze sales are to include a data plan. My plan is many years old and I like what I have. No hardcore business use here nor data other than an occasional photo.
I find it ridiculus to pay for gps and data. On my old Axims gps is free other than the programs I bought to run the maps. On the tilt from what I understand gps is free too. Whats the story with charging for something that is free.
The GPS is built in... the AT&T navigation SERVICE is $10.00/mo.

Just load your own mapping software on the tilt or the fuze and save the $10 a month. I loaded TomTom on my tilt and it works great.
Most of the ads I saw was for $299 on their site, well at my location they had posted in print on the wall for $229. I thought that too good to be true. Did some talking to the wifey, and went back into to buy the phone.
Keep in mind I was only 1 yr into my Tilt contract. They were able to do some kind of "courtesy upgrade" even, though I had 6 months to a 1 yr left. One thing that may have helped, was I was needing another line for our mother in-law and they just saw that as extra revenue to make up the difference.
But humorously enough, on ring up time, they could not get the discount on the phone to come up to $229, only $299, which leads me to think they had an error on their sale tag(now if someone else in another city has seen $229, then I guess I'm incorrect, wouldn't be the first). Anyway the guy said to make up the difference he was coming short on, he would credit my account the extra $70!!!
So, I think my local site did some shucking and jiving to make this deal happen. But hey, I got a Fuze for $229! :approve:
Oh and a comment about the above, the person above is right GPS is already built into it and it is free to use, unlike the BlackJack II that TRIED to lock it to one app, but their are hacks out to unlock it, but I digress.
The $10/month he was trying to hit you up for was for AT&T's GPS SOFTWARE solution. But I already have Pocket CoPilot, kind of like TomTom, both are third party apps that are well worth it for any travelers!
Still confused about what to get, the tilt or fuze. I like the side buttons on the tilt since it is what im used to. Lured by the new tech on the fuze although I don't like its fingerprint magnetism. There will only be tilts left for a short while. So that, and the fact that my 8525 battery is killing me, not even lasting 12 hours at work anymore, is making the purchase of one or the other soon to come.
I will point out four reasons to go with the Fuze.
288 MB of RAM instead of 128. I am a firm believer that the more RAM you have the better.
528 MHz processor instead of 400 MHz. Again I am a believer in the more processor power the better.
240 x 320 QVGA verses 480 x 640. I still miss the VGA screen my Dell X50v had.
Built-in GPS. I have two BT GPS receivers. I use GPS for canoeing (in a dry pack), hiking and street navigation. It will be nice to have one less thing to carry. I also use a battery extender when canoeing and on longer hikes. Again one less device to carry.
Thanks for the quick and easy breakdown. I was thinking the same thing about the gps. I am gonna try to get a tilt today. Very few left around here. I like having the external buttons. I can wait two years for the next latest and greatest.
jwb, looked at the TyneII and Touch Pro on the HTC site when the Fuze came out. I like the HTC specs page much better than AT&T's. I just looked and I do not know how I missed the GPS on the TyneII page. I was getting ready to order the Tilt unil I noticed the Fuze had come out. I am now waiting for that first price drop. Thanks for pointing out my error. I would not want to influence anybody's choice based on bad data.
I had a Tilt for 6 months and have moved to the Fuze, both devices are amazing.
The tilt has buttons, and i do miss all the buttons, like scroll and the dedicated SMS and internet buttons.
But the Fuze is sleak, and the Touch-Flo (after a little tweaking) is extremely nice. I've turned my Tilt into a gaming device only with Pocketnester and a bunch of cabs. and it's setup for WiFi use but i don't put my Sim in it anymore.
The VGA screen is also very nice to look at, makes browsing, reading, watching videos, etc so much easier on your eyes. All in all i think my upgrade was worth it, i love tweaking out my Fuze.
Here is my quick list for upgrading to Fuze
Pros:
User friendly (Touchflo 3d, and friendly touch screen)
Improved Browsing
Increased RAM and CPU
Cons:
Buttons
Price
Not a huge jump of improvement just a bunch of little ones.
No difference:
GPS
Phone calling
texts/e-mails
Hope this quick little overview helps, i'm new to this site but i'm always over at XDA so i'll try to increase my posts here :D i like the colors of this forum better :P
I agree with MM12's assesment of the comparison of the two devices, I would also like to add, that the battery life on the Tilt is better.
But most of his pros and cons are indeed my factors for upgrading, mainly the performance.
However, I did not like the Touch Flo, as pretty as it was, I prefer the functionality of SPB Mobile SHell. It has a few animations but no where near as flashy as the Touch Flo or iPhone.
And I don't want a iPhone wannabe. Why?!
Definitely would advise some screen protecter since the Fuze screen is flush and not recessed like the Tilt, which saves a few scratches.

it costs 12.95$ and has lifetime warranty against damage, they say. sounds really good and worth buying for any fuze owner. that way u wont have to deal with fingerprints all over the original screen, which would drive me absolutely nuts..
