The implementation of TouchFlo and many of the other assorted HTC utility apps has provided a very useful shell interface (for free) as opposed to paying for MobileShell and PhoneSuite (and similar)
So... Let us stick with the concept of staying with the HTC interface and strictly a freeware list of apps, Where does the Fuze and the built-in HTC apps miss a feature set.
For example, there is no obvious battery monitor tool. As such I'm looking into KBattery and "VistaHide Battery Gauge"

AEButton Plus is now a very necessary PAID utility now since there is only 1 default button you can program. There is a method to reprogram the PTT button, but is kind of a PITA

Well, I think Total Commander, which includes a registry editor, is a necessity for any pocket pc. If you don't want Total Commander, then PHM Registry Editor is an excellent choice. I also think any pocket pc that includes its own keyboard, like the Fuze, needs null keyboard to prevent the onscreen keyboard from popping up all the time.
I also think Adobe Reader for Pocket PC is still a good choice even for WM6.1 devices, although there are other PDF readers that some might prefer.
Since the Fuze includes an FM receiver and no software, you'll want to be sure and download the Diamond FM Radio software just because it's cool to be able to listen to the radio on a pocket pc.

You will also want TouchLockPro (Zuinige Rijder TouchLockPro) or something like it if you carry your Fuze in your pocket. I have had my Fuze do a few weird things while in my pocket. No problems since I installed TouchLockPro. TLP will automatically lock your Fuze when power comes on. It will auto unlock if there is enough light when you remove it from your pocket. It will also unlock if you remove the stylist. You can also get it to unlock by lightly tapping near the D-pad. You can set it to beep or vibrate when it locks and when it unlocks. I use vibrate. It has many other options you can check out.
TouchLockPro is an absolute winner, it should be built into all these ROMs

Great suggestions, folks.
I know you started this thread with freeware, but anyone have thoughts about a third party replacement for calendar and contacts?
I use Agenda Fusion on my Axim, but that doesn't have Touchflo 3d. Are the built-in Calendar and Contacts good enough?
contacts are fine, but look at the new SBSH Calendar Touch.
and we get mobilitysite discount

Rad, can you point me to the current SBSH discount? One I tried was no longer being used.

Elrendel handles the vendor discounts, but i'm certain that Amit would need very little prompting to check/update the discounts. You could probably just shoot him a PM here or at SBSH and he'd most likely update the code/offer.
SBSH has been a long time supporter of MobSite and even though his products sell themselves, the discounts are easily obtained.
Actually, I need to contact him myself, as Calendar Touch is the one PPCPhone app I do not already own.

Hey, you were right about Calendar Touch.
What a great app! I love the way gestures are built into it.
Of course I was, That is why I'm here.

Rad, have you heard back from Amit? I PM'd him here and at SBSH (at SBSH his box was full though) and the other day sent an email.
BTW, anyone tried SSMa(nila)Pa(tcher)? You can set different items in TouchFLO3D to launch other apps, such as Flexmail instead of PocketOutlook.
Items that can be changed with this app are:
* calendar.exe
* tmail.exe
* WLANSettings.exe
* poutlook.exe
* OperaL.exe
* Camera.exe
* AudioBooster.exe
* Click on Time
* (Click on alarm)
* Phone Settings
* Bluetooth Settings
* Sound Settings

Julie - Are you talking about a version of Reader other than 2.5 LE, which comes on the Fuze? Or are you addressing this to owners of the Pro on other carriers, where Reader might not be included?
