Aximsitex3icon PhonEx phone-software

Hi all,

I'm considering purchasing the PhonEx phone/dialer software from Iconsoft (I can't post a link since this is my first post, but just google iconsoft and you'll find it). However, I realize many of the features are already present on the stock HTC dialer/phone, and I would like to hear what your opinion might be - basically, is the PhonEx worth 25$ or not. I don't consider myself a phone-poweruser, I'm probably averaging less than 1 call/day, but still I'm not completely happy with the standard phone software on my Touch Pro.

Based on a couple of days trial usage of PhonEx, here's what I think of it:

+++Shorter ringing delay than with the stock HTC dialer (this is one of my main gripes with the HTC dialer)
+Nice graphics
+One-handed use
+Fluid, speedy, slick
+Large and good quality contact pics
-No video calling at the moment, though according to Iconsoft support it should be added in a later version
-Presently, the hardware volume buttons on my TP change the system volume and not the in-call volume - should be fixed in the next version, though

What do you think? Is there any other similar software that you could recommend?

Looks pretty good. From the description and screenshots it looks like it offers some new features that you don't find in the HTC dialer. However, one thing I immediately notice is that it works from the regular Today screen -- so I am thinking that you would have to choose between this product OR Touchflow3D.

Hey -- why don't you do the free download and give it a try?
I am still learning my way around the touchflow interface -- but might try the same, particularly if I end up going with Mobile Shell or something else that works off the Today screen..

Yes I've downloaded the free trial of PhonEx, and I think it is an improvement over HTC dialer, though not perfect of course.

I have configured PhonEx as the default phone software (this can be done in the PhonEx settings). This way, pressing the hardware "answer" key brings up PhonEx, which is convenient enough, and does not necessitate disabling TF3D (which I like very much).

I am sorry, but I can not see spending $25 for a new phone/dialer if you get less than one call a day. Have you checked on the some of the FREE replacements? There is a slide to answer available some people like. Personally I like the stock dialer. That is not to say there are not some inprovements it could use. Another question I have is are you using the stock AT&T ROM that came with your Fuze? All the bloatware AT&T adds to the phone really affects performance. You might want to check out bypassing AT&T customization or even better, find one of the cooked ROMs that greatly improve the Fuze.
