Icon14 Touch Pro ROM released

Might be "old" news from a few days ago, but HTC posted an update for the Touch Pro rom here.

From their site the following fixes have been introduced:

"Improved Functions and Fixes

1. The display of TouchFLO 3D sometimes may appear cracked.
2. When taking a picture, the auto focus function may malfunction in some circumstances.
3. In some circumstances, the preview screen will become black after taking picture.
4. In some circumstances, the device may hang while loading TouchFLO 3D.
5. When hanging up a phone call, there may be a delay in the display response."

You'll need to enter your device's serial number to obtain the download directly.

EDIT: Doh, this will likely not work for AT&T models...
I got this message when I entered my S/N:
"Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."

if you want an "official" HTC Rom, you really need to get it from your carrier.

Otherwise look for one of the custom cooked ROMs if you are into experimenting with your phone.

I may wind up doing that since my customized Fuze works well enough for me at present.

FYI, users over at XDA have reported that using the UK version and then running a Touch Pro Fuze keyboard cab to correct the keypad layout difference worked well.

Rad, did you use a HardSPL & Sim Unlocker for your custom ROM? Olipro's Athena Unlocker was free, whereas the Raphael Sim Unlocker is "mandatory" donationware (suggested $18 ?).

I used the procedure as described here: http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/h...-new-fuze.html

I did no SIM unlocker... probably because I didn't change the phone to a new provider. AT&T phone staying on the AT&T network

I also use a cooked ROM from XDA. I start this with my 8525. It was such an improvement over the stock ROM the 8525 came with. When I bought my Fuze, I spent about 20 minutes testing it before I installed Hard-SPL and the cooked ROM I had selected. I personally use NATF's ROMs, but there are many flavors to choose from. I just downloaded NATF's version 4.4 ROM and will be installing it tomorrow.

As radimus pointed out, you only need SIM Unlock if you want to switch providers. I have read that AT&T will give you an unlock code if you tell them you are going overseas, but I have never tried it. Besides Hard-SPL and SIM Unlock, you can also look into Security Unlocking your phone. This will let you run a radio from some other devices such as the Diamond, Blackstone, Xperia and the Quartz. Oh and the Fuze and other Touch Pro devices are refered to as the Raphael on XDA.

Most cooked ROMs do not include the radio, so it stays the same as before the flash. That way you can select the radio ROM you want. I personally have not SIM Unlocked or Security Unlocked my Fuze. I only use Touch Pro (Raphael) radios on the AT&T network. My Fuze came with 1.02.25.32. I noticed people having better luck with the onboard GPS were using 1.02.25.28, so I flashed to 1.02.25.28. I did start having better luck with the GPS after that change. With these newer ROMs some are suggesting a move to the latest 1.11.25.01 Rapheal radio. I plan on moving to this radio after loading the newest NATF ROM.

Edit: I noticed a few errors in my post and corrected them.

Right. I keep tabs on the Athena and Raphael items over at XDA. My question about the SIM unlock was that with the HardSPL installation on the Athena/Advantage/X7501 listed that as a step, so I wrongly assumed it would be the same for the Raphael, that it was to facilitate a non-standard ROM update.

I did update to the UK version with the keyboard fix yesterday, I think I mentioned that in another thread, and so far the device works well. Minimal bloatware and response seems faster, even without Advanced Config or the Diamond TF3D config tool.
