Can't Clear Alarm Notifications
I have had no problems with my alarm notifications until this morning.

Yesterday, I installed PhatPad 3.0 on my T-Mo MDA. I played with it for a bit, and decided it was not for me. I attempted to uninstall it, and when I did, it told me that it was unable to uninstall all the components, and would I like to remove the entry from my "Remove Programs" list. I said yes, and thought nothing of it. I then manually removed all the related files I could find from the device, and cleaned the registry.

At 5:18, a test reminder I had created in PhatPad went off. This was after I had removed the program. I dismissed it, and again, thought nothing of it, as I figured it simply made an entry in the system, and then went off at the desired time....

Well>>>

I have my alarm set to go off in the morning, which it did, at the appropriate time, but it was different. Normally, there is a Soft Key on the left side of the screen that allows you to dismiss notifications. It no longer appears for my alarms, so, I cannot dismiss them. All my other notifications (email, sms, etc) appear correctly. Short of Wiping the Device, I am at a loss, and deperately need some help.

What I have tried so far...

1. Soft Resets. All that happens then is that all my alarms start going off at the same time, and with a different sound for each one, it is quite musical!!!

2. Unchecking all the alarms. No change.

3. Creating new alarms. These go off, but as before, I cannot dismiss them.

4. Clearing the registry of what I can find that refers to reminders. No change

5. Installed and ran Scary Bear's Check Notifications. No Change.

6. Re-installed PhatPad, figuring I might have missed something, and re-installing it might fix it. NOPE. NADA.

So, please anyone with a suggestion, an idea, maybe something they wrote on the back of a napkin, help me out. I really do not want to have to reset this device... Thank you

That's a tough one. First off, if you uninstall something and it gives you that message...say no and soft reset. Then uninstall again and it should be as uninstalled as software ever gets It's a problem with WM5.

Clearing the alarm doesn't sound like the problem, although I use Memmaid for such things on WM5 as I had hanging issues with Scarybear's app (meant for WM2003).

I have seen several posts with this problem and not just on this phone, but also on an upgraded Axim. But the only soultion I have seen is a hard reset or a rom upgrade. A bit drastic.

I'll keep looking and hopefully someone has an answer for ya

Did a Hard Reset
Sad, but without the ability to backup, I had to reload everything from scratch. In all honesty, this was actually a good thing, cuz I tend to clutter up the device, and a Hard Reset allows the opportunity to "take out the trash."

Guess that will teach me! THank you for your input, and have a great weekend!

Sorry you had to do that, but I agree sometimes it is good to clean house.

But why don't you have a good backup?

No Backup... Well, there is really no excuse. I had just had the phone for a few days, and as we all have learned, WM5 on the K-Jam, does not ship with a backup solution. I had gotten used to the Sprite product on my h6315, and was a bit disappointed to find there was no method for backing up the device, either built in, or via AS.

Well, I have since installed, and very successfully been using the product from SBP, SBP Backup. As such, hopefully I will not need to do any more Hard Resets...

Lesson Learned

My Cingular 8125 does the exact same thing
I've found numerous references on the web to this problem. My problem just sterted one day (likely around the event of installing or deleting software). Some time ago I experiemented with various software packages.

To this day, every time I reboot it, I have to wait for 13 subsequent alarms to cease before it's useable. I NEVER reboot it with the volume on in a public place. Three minutes of alarms is too much for anyone to hear.

If I had three wishes, I'd blow one on fixing this problem.

Have you checked your notification queue? There are many utility applications that you can use to do this. I use SKTools (which is compatible with WM5.0). You can download a trial version of this software here:

http://s-k-tools.com/

You can review all the different notifications that are in your queue. You should recognize any that you have loaded because they will be associated with dates and appointments, but there are also some that are internal to the PDA and you should not delete them or else your PDA will not function properly. However, if you see blank ones or redundant appointment notifications, you can delete these with no problem.

Would recommend S-K tools as well. Find this program solves this problem better than Memmaid actually. That program sometimes resulted in an "eternal spinner"
