Cingular 8125 vs. T-Mobile MDA
Hi guys...I know there are some of you out there that have purchased and been using one or the other so I wanted some advice. I have the 6315 and was looking to make the change (finally after 3 replacements and 1 ROM update) and was curious which way to go. Any personal experiences on your device..I know they are basically the same hardware wise but was curious if you're experience is different based on the carrier.

Any advice would be amazing.

THe best advice is:

It doesn't really matter. It really all depends on your carrier here as the phones are essentially the same phone. The insides are, but the Cingular has a nicer keyboard IMHO. I am using the K-Jam currently, which is also the same phone as the MDA and 8125. I prefer this phone over several others I have.

My previous cell phone plan was with Cingular and so when it was time to upgrade I went with Cingular again because I really liked the feel of the 8125 vs the MDA. My wife wanted to change to Verizon because she didnt like the quality of the calls and thought it was the network but it was really the phone. She has the RAZR and loves it.

Anyhow, the Verizon model has the antenna sticking out and I didnt particularly like the feels of the keys on the t-mobile version. Its true that they are basically all the same machines in term of functionality. I've been able to watch movies with TCPMP without any noticeable lag at 25 fpm. Also the 8125 is cheaper than the t-mobile I think. I also opted to get the 8125 vs the palm treo 700w/650 because it lacks wifi even though I like the simpler interface of the palm and had some programs already for the palm OS.

In the end, I am very happy with my purchase. BTW you do not have to get the data plan to use the phone although you do need to disable the EDGE part of the connection if you run IE.

It's all about personal tastes/preference due to the fact that they are the same exact phone internally. If you like your carrier or want to change to a different carrier obviously that will color your choice.

Personally, I believe the 8125 is the better of the two phones looks wish and keyboard wise. The 8125 also come with a Java midlet while the MDA does not. Cingular is also more attentive and quicker to release firmware updates while T-Mobile basically abandons support of the phone. (I'm personally dealing with T-Mobile and their abandonment of PPC phone right now myself so I can tell you from experience...)

The keyboard on the 8125 is better feeling, set up and more attractive. If I were you and were dead set on one of those phones but didn't want to sign a new contract or switch carriers I would buy an unlocked 8125 on eBay.
