8125 Slingbox Mobile
Just wondering if anyone has tried slingbox mobile on the 8125. How does it perform? I know Cingular's EDGE network isn't real fast, so I was wondering how slingmobile looks on the device.

As one of the original Beta testers, the mobile player does a decent job as long as you have a decent data connection. If you are always at "1 bar" then it will be painful.

I use Orb on my 8525 (both gprs and 3g) and it is similar... the better the signal, the better the quality of the connection and the fewer drop offs

Bars doesn't matter. It's the speed that you get with your connection. I always have 5 bars but average 80kb - 90kb with my EDGE connection. I rarely am able to watch video without major studdering. Hoever, on some off-peak hours and a good connection, I am just barely able to watch something without any level of frustration.

That's why I am looking forward to a new Treo 750 with a UMTS connection (later to be HSDPA).

umm...

with 3 bars (3g) I get about 500k
with 5 bars (3g) I get about 850k

If I'm watching at 400k, and my connections drops to 150k (1 bar) the pic pauses and tries to restablish.

There are also some settings that seem to help...

bitrate to 50
fps to 15
disable optimizer
user mono audio
