Where is all my memory going?

I'm coming from a PPC-6600 so I had a little more memory back then...but with my 8125 just SITTING THERE, it takes 26 megs! With only 44 megs of program memory that is kinda ridiculous. It also makes Battery Bar go bananas because when i open one appI get 'memory low' warnings.

Does anyone know what is taking up so much RAM? I'd like to know what kinds of benefits I'm getting for that 26 megs.

Yes, but... are you actually running out of memory?? I've had lots of apps open without anything having to close. I have an MDA, which is the same as 8125, and it's miles ahead of the 6315 in the memory department although they have the same stated RAM.

Might try wisbar or magic button to make sure applications are closing down. I ran into this with memory warnings.

no, this thing obviously has a memory leak, and I blame WM5. After opening and closing apps over a course of a week, program memory is at 86% and thats with NOTHING running. Booting up from soft reset yields 47% program memory in use. Thats just ridiculous.

Um, there is no BIS on the 8125?

I have a memory leak, my storage goes from 20MB to 10 MB while I watch :) Just having less memory than you think it should wouldn't make me think memory leak right away.

Can you give us a list of apps you have installed?

Do you use your phone for messaging and web surfing?

I notice thatafter using mem made that the majority of memory that was being cleaned was in the internet cache.
