will 4gb sd work w/ 8125

I know some phones have a limit on how many gigs it will accept. Does anyone know if the 8125 will accept a 4gb card?

Ahh I replied to the double post...... :(

I believe that the largest MiniSD available is 2 GB and I have seen it work in an 8125

Mine is on order...I'll let you know.

I have read some forum posts that say the 4GB works on the MDA, but only if you format as FAT(16). I ordered one, but it was DOA. There is a difference the way the memory is addressed between 2GB and 4GB. Basically, 4GB is considered SDHC and is not compatible with all SD readers. Target had a good deal (online only) for a 4GB card, but I won't see it for another week. Anyone else have an MDA with 4GB working?

I can confirm that 2GB works fine (just got my new card recently and am happy enough with it). There's nothing like a post such as this one to make you feel like your memory card is too small :(

T-Mobile MDA and 4GB MiniSD findings

Ugh! Okay, I found that not all Mini SD cards are made equal. For starters, most 4GB Mini SD cards are SDHC format, which is not compatible with the MDA. I did purchase a 4GB standard format mini SD that works, but it so slow that I get read errors and lockups which means it is practically useless. I have read other posts that some people have found 4GB mini SD cards that work just fine with the MDA and others who have the problems that I am having. I am formatting the mini SD to Fat16 as I type (it was FAT32) to see if this helps, but I doubt it will. I was able to format the card using the PDA so that should be the best case scenario, but it is just too slow. I think these statements are correct.

-SDHC memory does not work in the T-Mobile MDA
-4GB mini SD will work if it is standard format SD
-Some 4GB mini SD cards are too slow to work properly with the MDA.
-Don't buy a 4GB mini SD unless you know it is standard format and it is fast memory.

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you find out differently.

Thanks,
JaMMy

Thanks very much for sharing your findings. I'm sure this will prove useful to others who search here in the future.

It's always good to give a little back. I really appreciate these forums and others like it. BTW, formatting to Fat16 did not help the lockup issues. These lockup mostly occur during installs of cab files from the flash card or quick skipping songs using media player or TCPMP. I have seen other posts saying that people cannot format to Fat16 in Windows XP. If you use the Windows XP disk management utility (diskmgmt.msc from Run or right-click on My Computer and choose "Manage" from the context menu) you can format to Fat16. Other post I have seen say to partition to 2GB partitions but Disk Management does not allow you to do this. I did not try FDISK from DOS as it would most likely be a waste of time. But I digress...

I'm probably going to pick up a 2GB mini SD on the way home and be done with it. I had a 4 GB on my Axim X51v and I never went over 2 GB even with the 3D games I had installed on it. If only it was a phone :(
