It doesn't look like many people inroduce themselves, but I thought I would.
Hi all, I'm Frank.
Some months back I was travelling through Europe on my bike when I had a chance meeting that brought me here.
I was stopped by the side of the road in pretty much the middle of nowhere in Eastern Germany, the bike had died on me and I was feeling a bit nervous and unsure what to do. Suddenly, out of the setting sun, the biggest bike I have ever seen roars to a stop beside me and an equally large man ask me in German if I need any help. I replied in my school boy german that I didn't speak German and shrugged my sholders a lot. He took off his helmet, releasing an appropriately large hair and beard combo (everything about this guy was Big) and laughingly replied "thank **** for that!"
Anyway, it turned out he was an Australian living in Europe. So to cut a long story short he fixed my bike in about 2 minutes flat then noticed I had an Axim as my Navigation system and we got chatting about that. He gave me a few tips about how to get the best out of it and pointed out a few of the places where the maps were wrong and how to get around those areas.
He was a great Guy, even offered me a place to stay, but I had to be somewhere else.
We parted ways and I didn't even get his name, but I remembered that he said I should look this site up for more info on my Axim.
He was dead right, I've got so much help here it's unbelievable, I'll try to give something back.
Welcome to the site, F Tifino. Great to have you here!
The mysterious, helpful person in your story sounds remarkably like the fellow, Box, who haunts these threads. We're all fortunate to know him and benefit from his wisdom (but we won't admit it, ever :))
welcome to a great site F Tifino. There is lots of info here, check our search engine, or just post any problems or your own experiences and there are lots of friendly people here to jump in.
As mentioned above - that had to be Box. :approve:

Welcome to the site, F Tifino! Hope you enjoy your stay. Excuse my tardiness, I've been under the weather of late.
What a treat indeed if it was our esteemed Box that you bumped into, though from your initial description this image popped into my head:
Though given Box's generous spirit, it would probably be closer to this:

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to your post but I had a slight altercation with a woman who somehow got the impression that if there is snow and ice on the road she is allowed to drive her car directly into the bakery. It was silly of me to be attempting to use the footpath at the time.
I don't think it was me that you met, after all, the only English rider I have encountered was rendered immobile by a loose spark plug lead, surely that wasn't you. Not to mention that I would never use asterisks in a sentence like that, I was brought up proper.
As for your image of me, you couldn't be further from the truth.
You have forced me to post a pic of myself just to show you how wrong you are.

Never before seen images of Box.
I hope the rest of your trip was all you expected.
Good to see you made it here, and that you managed to return home safely.
