I've been lurking for about a week or so now and decided to finally jump in. I just bought a x50v a few weeks ago and I love it. I've tried PalmOS in the past and it didn't do anything for me. I'm extremely unorganized and I needed something to keep track of my calendar and tasks. So, I bought the HP iPAQ 6315 thinking it could be my savior. I absolutely hated it. Not only was it slow and bulky but the phone quality was terrible and the t-mobile internet was so slow. Their support reps were clueless as well.
I took that back and decided I didn't need an integrated phone. I bought the x50v because my company was paying for it so I just bought the best they offered vs. comparing models. We buy a lot of Dell laptops and servers so I figured, why not, Dell has been decent. I tossed in a 1GB SD and loaded it up with some apps.
Some of my favorite apps are:
- Pocket Informant
- PocketBreeze
- Wisebar Advanced
- Crypto Storage (If you haven’t tried it, you’ll love it. I use TrueCrypt on the desktop and Crypto Storage is similar. It mounts encrypted containers as drive letters or in the case of Crypto Storage on the Axim it mounts like a SD or CF.)
- PocketWinc
- PocketPutty (free) which is ok but Pocketty is much better (I have both installed)
Here's Pocketty to a freeBSD server via ssh and then using bitchX to IRC.
- MagicSS for screen capture (free)
- WeatherPanel
Currently testing:
ThunderHawk – I love the 800x600 virtual resolution and browsing is a dream. I wish I could use virtual res setting on PocketPutty or Pocketty.
Anyway, I love the site and have learned a lot so far. I figured it was time I start participating vs. lurking.
Thanks again and a big hello.
