Saw the 111 at CompUSA

Saw the iPaq 111 at CompUSA today, looked it for a few minutes. Impressions are that it is very light in physical weight, :approve: has a non-slip back on it, similiar to my Tmobile DASH. :approve: The screen also seemed a little bright for my taste but that may have been the settings. Also after a cold reset, it show only 24mb of memory available, with 32mb already in use. Very interesting.

I bought the iPAQ 110 at CompUSA on Monday. It came with a 4G micro SD card plus adaptors for SD.
So far i like my 2795B better. I don't think the screen is as nice and I like the security features on the 2795B better. It does not have the HP password protection but it has the Microsoft provided password protection which is the same as on the Dell x51's. I don not kile it. It comes up every 5 minutes or what ever you set as a time and askes for a password. The old 2003SE version was better or the HP version.
For some reason after a soft reset it always comes up with WiFi on. Again don't know why and would rather it did not.
Also I can not set up a new account in messaging. Every time I try it reverts back to Inbox without even giving me a chance to set up an account. I use FlexMail and that is working with no problems so I am not ready to Hard Reset to see if Messaging with recover.
It also likes to turn on easily. Not sure if it is the on button and placement or if other things make it turn on.
I can't make the fake server trick hold. I keep entering it but schedule never gets enabled and the fake server never get stored.
The size/weight in nice - small.

Was the 4gb microSD a CompUSA feature or did it come with the iPaq?

Thanks

Rich

Fry's Electronics is advertising the 111 for $299 this week in local Phoenix newspaper ad.

Interesting, the expansion memory for the 110/111 is standard SD card, not a microSD. Why is CompUSA giving away a 2gb microSD for free when they sell one?

Does it come with the adaptor to plug into a standard sd slot?

Yes, it does. But there is no cover on the SD slot on the Ipaq, so it is possible the card could pop out of the holder. :(

It is a micro SD with an adaptor to fit in an SD slot. I have had no issues with anuthing poping out. The micro SD fits into the adaptor and seems to lock into place.
CompUSA was running it as a special to get people into the store and get sales.

it should support up to 32GB of -HC
but I would go for 211/212 because of dual card and VGA screen

Your CompUSA was doing the 4g MicroSD cards. Our was only doing the 2gb micro/mini/standard Sandisk card. So it takes two adaptors to fit into the ipaq, not one.

Does the 111/211 devices support SDHC? That way we could use the larger SD cards that are out there.

:)

I believe it would have to, to support the SDHC 4GB Micro card, although I once took a digital camera back because it came with a "free" memory card of the wrong type. Also, WM6 supports SDHC.

ooo, HP's specs sheet says SDIO High Capacity (SDHC plus IO features).

HP's 111 page.

Now if someone could just confirm it works. I'd love to get one of the larger SD cards to use.

I've been using the 111 for a few days now and I have to admit I'm not all that impressed. Hardware wise it isn't that much of a jump over previous models. I've been using a 4155 and they are pretty comparable. The size isn't that differnt. I tried the 111 in the 4155 SENA case I had, and it fit but the flap wouldn't stay closed. I emailed SENA and asked if they were going to do a case, and the reply was the not at this time. I also emailed VAJA and have not heard from them. I would say unless you have a reason to get rid of your older PDA, this one isn't really a drastic leap in technology even with the WM6 package. But that could change as more and more apps are developed. But with the market trend going away from stand alone PDAs, who knows how many of those we will be seeing.

I was near a compusa this weekend and stopped in also looking to see/try this unit. It is very light and cheap feeling, but I like the specs and cost. I use my old Axim X5 and I like the weight of the X5, very different to this unit. I also looked at the memory and saw the same thing. The stylus seemed to be very tight when inserted into the ipaq.

Does anyone know of any professional reviews on the Ipaq 110/111 somewhere on the net. Cnet doesn't have a review yet, but I want to buy one. I really need to know if there are any glitches with the software and that sort of stuff. The operating system is new, so maybe there are a few problems that the later Ipaq 110/111's won't have. I want to buy one, but don't know whether to wait a month or two, or go for it. Can someone help?
