iPAQ 110 Died Today (Won't Power On)

After about a month, my new iPAQ 110 simply won't turn on. As an Axim X50 owner I was hoping that this would be the viable replacement--still hoping.

It was finally set-up with add-on software and sync'ing properly with contacts, tasks, notes, files, etc. It's been working this way for a couple of weeks.

Now, the iPAQ 110 does not power on, screen is blank, and it is unresponsive to all buttons.

The unit appears fully charged.

Pressing the reset button on side usually has no effect. On random occasions, pressing the reset button on the side of the unit will cause the following:

1. iPAQ powers-on to HP white and blue reboot screen that displays firmware version
2. Windows Mobile intro screen sometimes appears briefly.
3. iPAQ powers off.

The same behavior is observed if connected to charger or not.

Since there is no HP documented hardware reset procedure (there are ideas here and there which I've tried), I've contacted HP and we'll see what the next steps are.

have you pulled the battery?

and it does sound like a hard reset is the most likely step for a solution

Does this unit have a battery lock like the ipaq4700? If so you might check to make sure it's locked.

Aximsitex3icon iPAQ 110 Died - An Update

Thanks to all for the help. Here is an update on the iPAQ 110.

:( The finger contortion hard reset procedure only works if the iPAQ will power up. There is also a reset capability using the HP provided software; but, needless to say that requires connection to the PC and the iPAQ must power-up...you get the idea.

:) After leaving the battery out for 24 hours, the iPAQ did power-up when the battery was re-inserted. It turned-on as if it had been soft reset rather than a hard reset.

:o As far as battery door lock-out. I did a little experiment. I removed the door with the iPAQ powered up--nothing happened--it was perfectly happy running with no door. I will put in a new post to see what other iPAQ 110 users have found.

For now I am up and running; but I don't think the problem has been solved.

Other than this device failure, which put the iPAQ out of service for a couple of days, the device works nicely.

(although the version of activeSync can be a challange at times).

I did contact HP and they sent out a new battery as part of the diagnostic process. So far, so good.
