I have used Palm and Windows Mobile devices. I personally prefer WM.

First -Welcome to Aximsite. Lots of good info and ppl here.

The iPaqs are excellent, especially the 200 series ($400+). :approve:

If it were me, I'd pick up a good used Axim to decide if you'll really like and use a PDA. The x51v would be a good choice ($200~). :)

Do some searching here and you'll get lots of opinons.

Basically, I agree with you. :)

But, remembering back to my newbe days I didn't have enough knowledge to know what I really needed and didn't want to spend out a lot of money for bells 7 whistles I didn't need.

Fortunately, I picked up a cheap Palm Zire so I could familiar with the PDA world and what I really wanted. :)

Although I personally use the iPAQ 211, I agree that the 111 would be an excellent model to start with. In fact I bought one for my novice mother to help her in her new job managing other staff (using the calendar app). And, if you, like me, have a history of damaging devices, I'd suggest considering one of HP's Care Pack Extended Warranty or Accidental Damage contracts.

Make sure that whatever device you decide to get that you use a screen protector from the very first day.
