iPaq 111 Memory

Guys,

I just bought a new iPaq 111. Sweet machine - will do nicely. The machine has the 624Mhz processor in it but I have noticed a couple of small issues.

1) Video performance is just a bit slow. It's not bad - it just hesitates ever so slightly when scrolling large portions of text and Virtual Pool Mobile seems a bit "jerky" compared to what it was on a 520Mhz under WM5.
2) Memory use. The unit has the usual 64MB main memory - has 256MB of flash which is excellent. However I've noticed that with a similar configuration to my old hx2495b that instead of running 35MB (or better) free, I'm seeing about 29MB after a soft reset. After the system runs for awhile it hovers around 20MB.

Neither of these causes a major headache - all my applications run fine, I'm just curious as to why the larger memory footprint of WM6 Classic. There doesn't appear to be all that much more to it; anyone understand why it takes up that much more RAM? I guess WM6 is doing some serious memory caching or something.

Aside from those things it's a really sweet little machine. It's physically smaller than the hx was and has a really great screen. Fits in the pocket much easier too. A definite keeper.
