I'm having the same problem as I recently bought an iPAQ 1940 and for the life of me couldn't connect. I set up a separate email inbox in outlook and can load the emails from hotmail into there but can't get them to sync directly into my ipaq. I think it might be because hotmail is an http based email system as opposed to pop3 (at least as my limited understanding goes!) and as a result it might not be able to connect. Can anyone else help?

There are people out there who managed to use HOTMAIL using POP3:
Try this:

POP3: pop3hot.com
SMTP: mx01.hotmail.com

I can connect using the POP3 address but something is wrong with the SMTP address....

This should be their SMTP Servers ...
mx01.hotmail.com
mx02.hotmail.com
mx03.hotmail.com
mx04.hotmail.com
mx05.hotmail.com
mx06.hotmail.com
mx07.hotmail.com
mx08.hotmail.com
mx09.hotmail.com
mx10.hotmail.com
mx11.hotmail.com
mx12.hotmail.com
mx13.hotmail.com
mx14.hotmail.com
mx15.hotmail.com

There's a great utility for syncing your entire hotmail account called 'httpmail provider':

http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=9539

It costs just under six dollars. I used this last night and I'm really impressed with the results, my entire hotmail folder hieararchy is now on my iPAQ!

I have used HTTPMail now for well over 6 months and I has worked out great for me. At the time it was only $5.00. I didn't blink twice when I saw that and I got it. However I would use this link to get the software. Nothing wrong with supporting this site is there?
