Here I go again. I can't get this card to work in my Ipaq 1945. I installed the driver from the Spectec site, which is about as clear as mud. Any way I installled the driver and a screen pops us and says unrecognized card. The icon shows up on the programs, but when you click it nothing happens. How do I get this card to work. I've got pc2003 on my Ipaq and the card is supposed to work with this system.
When you download the driver from the spectec site it shows up as a rar. file. I transfered the file to my Ipaq, and after doing this the icon appears to show it is installed in the programs, but nothing happens. When I put the card in it says it is unrecognized. Anybody have this same problem? Can anyone out there guide me as to what to do next?
Actually, the download is a CAB file (not really a RAR file) and should end with .cab. You say you transfered it to your iPaq. Did you execute it there to complete the installation?

I'm pretty green on this stuff. When I sent it to my Ipaq I located it in My File search. I held down on the line and then it seemed to have installed the program, but will not recognize the card. When I click on the icon for the card in programs it doesn't do anything. This is all I have done. Not sure what you mean by asking if I had executed it there to complete the transaction. :o
I'm not sure what 'held down on the line' means but assuming you did install it (which is likely if it placed an icon in the programs), try removing the card, then do a soft reset, then reinsert the card once the device is back to the Today screen. I haven't been able to open the manual for the Spectec adapter but I'll keep trying to get more info.

What I meant was when the file was sent to my ipaq I found it by doing a file search. I put my stylus on the words until it made a circle around it and then it seemed to install it. The icon shows up on the screen of programs, but does nothing when you tap the icon. I can put the Wlan symbol on the menu screen when you start the Ipaq and tap the icon and it goes back to the today screen. I put the wifi card in and it says warning unrecognized card. I have reinstalled it in the same way and have done several soft resets and the results are the same -- the wlan icon is on the list of programs and when I check my connections and go to network cards it shows up on my configure network adapters as Wlan-11b Adapter.
on your pc, you download the latest driver/application from the spectec website. this will be an exe or a cab file. exe files typically are installers which run from the pc, allowing you to install said program when a pda is connected, a cab file is a self installing compressed file which is initiated from the device using a file explorer on the device. the cab would be copied to the device using a file explorer on the pc... connect your pda, go to "my computer" and look under removable devices or mobile devices. copy the cab to your device, then use the file explorer on the device, browse to that location, tap on the file with your stylus, then you should get a new screen asking where to install to. drivers such as these should be installed to main memory.
after the install is complete, close the installer by clicking ok or the x at the top of the screen. soft reset the device (use your stylus and depress the small button usually on the bottom or the back of the device) wait for it to reboot completely, plug in your spectec card, finally, test the cards functionality and then try to associate with a wireless access point

After I transfer the file to my Ipaq and open the file folder to find it it shows up under my documents. When I tap on it it seems to install because I get the icon on the program screen, but I don't get anything that pops up to ask me where I want to store the file. That's as far as it goes once I tap on the file in my documents. It show or says nothing after I do this. The icon is present on the list of programs and it show up under the network adapters list and that it. Put the card in and it says it can't recognize it.:(
Tonight I went back to the Spectec site and downloaded the driver for windows 2003 again. I transfered the file to my Ipaq. Opened the document file to see the wlan file. Clicked on the wylan file then bars shot across the screen. Then the icon appears on the program screen. Wlan card shows up on the network adapter screen. Did a soft reset and put the card in and it says it doesn't recognize the card again. Am I perhaps dowloading the wrong driver? My card is a b/g card, but the driver download is the only one for pocket pc 2003 listed so it has to be right. I am downloading the 5th download down from the top of the wlan card options from the Spectec site if anyone wants to check to make sure this is the right one for my Ipaq with pocket 2003 pro operating system.
I got it figured out. I downloaded the driver for the Windows 5/2003 from Spectec and it works great. I thought you would download the one just for 2003 and above, but that one didn't work. Praise God!! I am learning everyday!!:approve::approve::):):)
I someday would like to own one with built in wifi but I just recently picked up a couple of these Ipaq 1940's and really like them. They will do all that I ask of them and they are nice size to carry around. You just have to be smart enough to figure them out sometimes. I'm no pocket computer expert by any means but I'm learning. :approve:
