I think it's been pretty well established now that HP Marketing goofed with many of the promo/info items they released, specifying 64MB RAM when in fact the correct figure is 128MB RAM. Some HP web pages STILL state 64MB; HP just hasn't got around to correcting all the errors yet.

Well, I sincerely hope the first HP rep was right about this release date because mine said October:

Welcome to HP's Chat Service.
Please hold for the next available Sales representative.
All Sales representatives are currently assisting other customers. You are number 1 in a queue of 1. Thank you for your patience. A representative will be with you shortly.
Hello, you are now chatting with Robert.
Robert: To assure I direct you to the right team for your business needs, please tell me the nature of your visit to chat today? (ie: technical support, pre-sales question, purchase, or quote)
Guest: Pre sales question
Robert: Hi there!
Robert: Thanks for considering HP!
Robert: Can you please tell me the HP product that you are looking to buy?
Guest: Ipaq enterprise 210
Robert: Glad to help you with this!
Robert: Will you be reselling this product?
Guest: No
Robert: Are you a government agency or an institution that receives any type of government funding?
Guest: No Iam not
Robert: Okay, how may I assist you with this?
Guest: I wanted to know if you were able to tell me the release date yet, I need this product as soon as possible for school and i am holding off buying another unit, which is pretty much un-organizing my school work
Robert: I'm sorry, even though this is a presales chat service, we don't have any official information on the date, however I can send you a personal alert when the model is available online. Would that be okay for you?
Guest: I have already signed up for that email service. Can you at least say whether it will be september or october?
Robert: We are expecting that it would be available in the October.
Guest: Ok
Guest: Thanks
Guest: That'll do it
Robert: If you need any further assistance please come back and chat at Printing and imaging expertise center - HP Small and Medium Business.
Robert: Have a great day!
Robert: Bye and take care :)

Well we will have to seen when they are released. I talked to them earlier today bcause I noticed that there is a ipaq 210, 211, 212 and 214. HP would only say that:

210 and 211 are US Models.
212 is Asia model
214 is UK Model.

However I notieced that the link that was posted previously it lists the 210 with a fingerprint reader.

I also just used the same link and ordered the 210 at $399. It is expected to ship on on 9/19 with overnight shipping so I am hoping to get it by Friday. I will follow up with any extra information that I may get and/or if I get it.

Please do follow up because I will be purchasing one as soon as I possibly can which will be by the middle of this week hopefully. I'm kind of wary about that link though, I don't want to release the funds to HP and then have to wait a month for the product. That would seriously suck!

Actually if you look at the ship date there's a little 3 by it, and if you look at the bottom of the page it states:

3 HP is not responsible for delays outside of our immediate control, including delays related to order processing or unexpected increase in demand. Typically only orders paid for by credit card receive credit approval on the same day the order is placed. Orders delayed due to order processing will default to an Estimated Ship Date 30 days from the date credit is processed and the order is released. Estimated Ship Dates are based on any known extended lead times.

Sooo....I wouldn't be so sure it will ship this month even : ( They're teasing us by having it on the website and it makes me mad!!! >: [ lol

Yeah I saw that too, but when I completed my order the little 3 went away.

I don't know where you are located, but California law states that they cannot charge you until the product is shipped.

Update (first and final):

I just received the following email from HP:

Dear Troy,

We are sorry. The HP iPAQ 210 Enterprise Handheld (MFG# FB040AA#ABA), on your order is not yet available. Our warehouse is expecting a launch date for 10/22. We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you. If you would like to contact a sales rep in regards to another purchase, you can reach the sales center at 800-888-5858.
Unfortunately, due the fact that we cannot fulfill your order, the order will need to be canceled at this time.

We understand your current selection is your first choice and again, we are sorry it's not available.

We look forward to doing business with you again in the future.

Yeah I saw the $399.99 link also. I was tempted to put in the order knowing that they wouldn't ship but maybe later allow me to have it at that price, but i'm pretty sure $449 will be the going price when it becomes available. Sweet little piece of electronics. Can't wait to see some good in-depth reviews of it.

After looking at Intel's reference designs for their new Menlow platform, it is very understandable as to why Monahans/RISC type processors were dropped.

Can someone tell me how the IPaq 211 compares to the Axim x51v? I had an axim about a year ago and it was stolen. Either I buy a new one on ebay for an outrageous amount due to the slim availability, or I go for the Ipaq 211, which seems like it may be slightly superior. Thoughts?

Thanks,

Because it hasn't been released yet, it's hard to give a fair comparison of the two. The specifications look good though, it has everything (or more) than the x51V, except 3d accelleration.

One big plus for the 211 will be it is a production model. You will have a warrantee should anything go wrong with it.

I plan to replace my x51v with a 211 when it is available. But, I'm a gadget junkie that likes the latest and greatest! :)

It looks like you'll also loose the infra-red capability on the 211. I only really used the infra-red for a universal remote control, so not too important for me.
