Thanks for the link and other information. It is pretty impressive, but this video compares the pxa270 to the pxa320 and the new iPAQ 210 series is supposed to use the pxa310. So what is the primary difference between the pxa310 and pxa320 - is it just clock speed?.

Konrad seems to be a pro when it comes to analyzing computer parts.

In fact, he/she is building his/her very own PDA.

I also just used the same link and ordered the 210 at $399. It is expected to ship on on 9/19 with overnight shipping so I am hoping to get it by Friday. I will follow up with any extra information that I may get and/or if I get it.

I think it is really shameful what this website does - have you tried checking back every day? You will notice that the "expected ship date" is always recalculated as "todays date + 2". Check today, the expected ship date is 9/27. Check back tomorrow, the expected ship date will be 9/28, etc..

That surely smacks of A) false advertising, and B) slimey tactics.

The problem with that is I don't believe this has been released yet, you are ordering from a page that has no links from the HP website. Someone who understands how HP names pages found this page. This is a page they are creating for the release but has not been made public yet. Most likely they will cancel your order in the next day or two.

Actually, I found it by using "google" to search for "ipaq 210". I would guess that several others have found it that way too. People should know by now that if you put something out on the internet, someone is going to find it. I would think that HP would be smarter than that.

Even after asking twice, it seems like he didn't get the point with the cradle.
In fact, it seems like there is no cradle delivered with the 210 if you look at the pdfs.

But nice to get the 4400@same-formfactor thingy confirmed.

The second "Button" on the left looks like a hold-switch.

edit: And about the two speakers.
I think the first one is integrated in the HP-Logo for VOIP and won't be able to play loud sounds.
Second one on the rear is the real speaker for alarms, navigation, music.

Kevin was the one that told me that I would be able to have the ipaq 211 in my hands on or before Oct 5th.

I have noticed though that HP takes their store site down at Midnight Pacific time until 6am for maintenance. Maybe this Thursday will be the day. I also noticed that when they release product it has been at Midnight pacific or 11am Pacific.

Comparing speeds

What I'd like to know is how the 210 compares to my 4705 in terms of speed. Things like:

- Opening programs that are on internal storage as well as external
- Opening data files on both types of storage
- raw computing speed (spreadsheet, database, etc)

Also, is the default screen resolution 640 x 480?
Is there a switch/software utility to switch resolutions?

here is a link to a comparision of smartphones using the 270 and 310. it might shed a bit of light on the differences of the two processors in comparable systems..

I wouldn't for a minute believe that the 2200 and 4400 mAh batteries share the same form-factor. We go through this every time a devices is released with an extended battery option: 2x the capacity also means 2x the size.
